Quick Look: Immortals Fenyx Rising

Those icons, that inventory... this whole thing feels like it's supposed to be on a phone. I do not like this aesthetic one bit, even without considering the dialog. Bad aesthetics go a long way in keeping me from enjoying a game. Still need to play Hades, anyway, so I'll play that if I feel the need for Greek Mythos.

Not for nothing, though: that writing is truly, really, very bad.

@brokenarmsgordon: Yesterday I did a side quest that had me talk to a viking who was imagining his crew. The quest entailed me going to a few work stations, watching some canned animations of sawing wood or cutting up fish, then wolves show up, we fight the three wolves, then I tell the guy he is just imagining his crew and he should wake up. The guy says "well guess you're right at least it was a good life" or something to that effect and then goes back to his original animation at a work bench.

There was another quest where a guy asked me for permission to cry for the loss of his crew and then I say yes and he cries loudly and the quest finishes.

The game is full of these incredibly basic and honestly not very creative quests. This isn't a thread about Valhalla or anything but I think Ubisoft needs to start looking at Quality over Quantity because this has been their trajectory for a while and it just makes for incredibly long and not especially memorable games.

This seems like a bad version of Call of Juarez: Gunslingers.

I dunno, y'all seem pretty determined to hate on every aspect of this game. I watched some youtube videos on this and got excited to see what you guys think. I guess i'll have to check it out myself.

The writing isn't the greatest, but for me it's the kiiiiinda bad voice acting itself that really ruins it. It's like crappy celebrity voices doing a cameo instead of actual VAs, even when that's not the case.

Otherwise, I dunno. Seems okay, but cluttered in a way that I'd probably get bored way before half-way.

Feels like a game they may put up for free on EGS in a couple of years, and that seems like the right price. I think I could get a couple of hours of decent entertainment out of this, but it really doesn't seem like something I'd wish to spend a significant amount of money on, nor play to up the ending.

Honestly not surprised Ubisoft put out yet another game that is greedy as fuck with microtransactions and bloated with unrelatable characters and tone deaf humor.

Play Hades

The prometheus Zeus chattering is actually kind of amusing if you know a bit about greek mythology. Actually JUST like the Hades deformation of greek lore. In some parts Hades isnt any better.

I'm so horny for Breath of the Wild-likes that I played like 20 hours of Genshin Impact (basically until the game becomes a giant slog without paying money), and by comparison this looks amazing.

I'm playing this on PS5 and it's making me insane because I keep feeling like my new 4k tv is not sharp enough. Like this game is just permanently soft-focused.

The game is dropping in price quickly and well worth playing. I know the GB folks bounced off of it but personally, I've really been enjoying it
