It always bothered me that the game is always named after next year. It’s 2019 not 2020!

I assume the reasoning is that this year's season actually ends in 2020. Still confusing because the entirety of the regular season will take place in 2019, but some of the playoffs and the Superbowl will be in 2020.

Did sports games start looking worse? I remember feeling like these games were indistinguishable from TV at some point.

I haven't played a Madden or other EA Sports game since maybe the N64 but Alex and Vinny always make these QLs so damn enjoyable and fascinating.

I think it has to do with fiscals or some such. It's like cars. If you go to a car dealership this fall and buy a brand new Honda Civic, it will be a 2020 Honda Civic.

im broken inside and actually enjoy this years madden a lot as a hardcore mut guy.. im actually being forced to deal with some of my bad habbits.. zones dont work nearly as well and so man is the go to defense.. but so many things can exploit man

the fact that EVERY single elite in the game has a power up is huge.. heres hoping AJ green recovers as expected

@the_nubster: I've noticed that as well, apart from the NBA 2K series. I'm by no means a game designer, but I wonder if having to build a game from scratch on new tech, with the type of physics and AI that sports games require means that the first few iterations skimp on the graphical fidelity. If you look at developers like Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, CD Project Red, etc. they usually still with their same game engines and tweak them when needed. The Madden team's first Frostbite game was Madden 18.

Even though the story mode isn't as interesting as previous years, it's still infinitely better than the NHL series' Be a Pro mode. I wish they would do something... anything with that mode. Maybe hockey players are just inherently too boring.
