Alex is just continuing the Giant Bomb tradition. Aren't they playing on easy though? Shouldn't be a huge setback.

@eloj: I've seen them skip many more cheap upgrades from vendors. I bet there was one and/or a license with the Salarian vendor on the planet with the mind controlling plant, since they didn't bother seeing what he has. This is my only minor backseat player quibble with anything about this series.

Tower of Hanoi puzzle, I feel like its been in a ton of games. I think it was in "The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain" I played as a kid. And probably had more than 4 pieces too, not that it matters when you figure out how to do it.

Well, I don't remember ME2 in detail, but I do believe there are consequences for poor shopping/upgrade discipline there.

In Alex's defense, the UI and overall way the puzzle was presented didn't make it super obvious that it was "just" a Tower of Hanoi game. I couldn't tell by watching what state each block was supposed to be in or how they were moving.

Yes, one week closer to the fantastic back third of this game. So exciting, been a decade since I've seen it.

I love how the thumbnail has Shepard looking like, 'What the fuck ever, I'll do what makes you happy I'm just done with listening to your bullshit.'.

The beauty of Mass Effect is being able to apply your personality to a whole alien galaxy and Navarro nailed it in the character creator of Mass Effect 1.

Tower of Annoy

The Tower of Hanoi puzzle is a special puzzle because once you figure it out once, you know how to solve it forever, but it still is a pain in the goddamn ass.

The puzzle actually explains what to do at the bottom of the screen, when you first enter. :/

For all the grief Alex always gives Dan about his poor short term memory this series sure does contain a lot of Alex saying "Uuuuuuh, where was that thing again" followed by some u-turns.

They continue to ignore medigel and grenade upgrades, whyyyyy? They're so cheap.

I haven't started episode 9 yet, but I have a question: has Alex started using abilities in combat yet?

If sweet sweet Vinny says "they could!" about a weapon specialization one more time I will lose my mind. I love ya man but they all suffer aim penalties if they're not using something they're trained for.

Not that it matters I guess.

Alex's befuddlement at the tower puzzle is hilarious. It's one of the oldest puzzles around, I am sure he's done the exact same puzzle many times in his life, probably in real life and in games. I think he was just having trouble parsing what was happening on the screen.

There’s an infinite Paragon/Renegade glitch here I really hope Alex does for both it’s when doing the Gianna Parasini missions there’s a dialogue loop with The Turian

I remember the Tower of Hanoi puzzle being difficult for me back when I played it, but it's an almost instant solve for me now, now that I recognize what it is.

Oort Cloud is the name of several bands, it seems.

I've played through ME1 like 8ish times and on 7 I instantly googled the solution to that stupid puzzle. I have never been able to wrap my brain around it and I've been awaiting Alex's disgust upon seeing it.

For everybody stressing about Alex not getting deep into fully maximizing the inventory system, does that really matter? I feel like the combat in ME is almost always more a test of your patience and discipline than DPS and I'd much rather watch slightly longer combat that be reminded of that inventory system any more than I have to.

I think this ep is the first time we've really seen some of the awesome physics/biotic interaction with the objects placed in the environment and that's the aspect of 1 that I missed the most in 2 and 3. Throwing out a Singularity and having some dude up in the air with a crate next to him.
