I am really enjoying Alex and Vinny goofing and not realizing how emotionally intense this mission gets.

@alex @vinny It is extremely important that you go to the local cluster and send to probes two uranus. If you don't you will miss some very important lore.

Finding all of the data packets gets you 10 achievement points. I don't know if you get anything in-game, because I only found 5 myself.

I had a similar experience to Vinny and the whale in the museum. I grew up on flat prairie land and the first time I saw a mountain in person as a kid I couldn't deal with how big it was. It just freaked me out for some reason, haha. I was still on flat land but the size of it just had be gobsmacked. I got used to it eventually, I just remember my sister laughing that I was scared of mountains.

I know you want to explore every planet but i also think not starting every single episode with an extended probing sequence could be nice

Just scrubbing through every probing sequence at this point. Still love the series though

Alex should record special episodes where he just spends 2 hours probing and mining. I know I'd watch it.

Good to see that mission is as fucked up as I remember it being.

For as good a story as this DLC, and it is really good, but those driving segments suck.

I just think the might change his tune once he meets Legion :)

@scylo: We go to a system, we scan the planets. I don't make the rules, but also I make the rules. And them's the rules.

The Firewalker stuff isn't Pinnacle Station bad, but I don't think you would miss much if you don't do them. It's

missions revolving around your replacement Mako, but you largely only use that thing in those missions. It's largely unimportant.

EDIT: I forgot Overlord used the Hammerhead.

The gameplay doesn’t hold up but that ending still hits like a truck after 9 years.

really enjoying vinny's anecdote about the AMNH whale that I was always afraid was gonna fall and crush me before I'm crushed by the video game narrative, emotionally.

I don't know if y'all are interested in some of the sidey stuff, but when the game released the main menu would have daily blurbs from the 'Cerberus News Network' that told mostly non-game related story things in the form of short articles.

Like I said, they mostly weren't related to the game, but a few mentioned things that were going on in areas you would be in (the first entry involved the planet that Zaeed's loyalty mission took place). These little news blurbs went on for about a year straight.

Project Overlord is like the most depressing quest in the Mass Effect 2. Also I'm happy there's finally a 2hr episode.

Oh my God, yes! I've been waiting for Alex' reaction to Overlord.

@alex This is pretty important, seeing as you seem to prefer tackling the loyalty missions early on.

Do not complete both Jack's and Miranda's loyalty missions until late in the game. Doing one of their missions is fine, but completion of both prompts a Paragon/Renegade check that is impossible to pass until you're basically max Paragon. This caught a ton of people on their first playthrough and it sucks. So just put one of their missions off until way later.

There's one more set of missions like this, and we'll warn you about it when needed.

Alex using overload on shielded enemies makes me happy.

Pretty sure you researched the Krogan shotgun (M-300), you could equip Grunt with that. But apparently the geth shotgun is pretty good for squadmates, and the M-22 might be better than both. Overall, it doesn't seem to matter anyway lol.

Boy, this DLC really goes all in on the "autism is a superpower" trope, huh.

The Space Mets still have to pay Bobby Bonilla every year.

@nasher27: @nasher27: Even if he does it early without the proper Paragon points the game does let you address the possible fall out again later after you get max points. I don't think it makes sense to intentionally try and make him do things a certain way unless there's no going back. Just my thoughts!

A healthy fear of heights is a normal thing and you should respect how easily you can die from such a short fall.

My late uncle was a steelworker and built giant buildings, was constantly hundreds of feet up and dealt with extreme heat, explosive gases, sharp metal...

He died from a fall less than 8 feet when he was working on his home.

Yep, still gets me several years later. This DLC is not all that fun to play but man does the ending pay out in golden tears. I also struggled with the geth cannon, it looks easy on paper but that terrain was no joke.

I'm just here to listen to the Giant Probecast.

I always love how the tone of Overlord turns into horror at the end.

Just curious for your reasoning to not recruit your full squad first. Would give you more people on the ship to talk to, and more options when going out on missions.

I think it's very important to recruit every crew member as soon as possible. It maximizes the possible interactions you can have with them, and you don't miss their conversation input on critical plot events.

@loegi: I'm aware it's a percentage, that's why in my experience the mid-game is the hardest time to pass these checks. The checks are easy early on, because of the imported paragon save. Then they get difficult as you start to get enough points on both ends to cancel out the imported bonus (I think it's 250 points). Then later on once you've built up a ton of paragon points the checks start to get easier again.

As some ppl have said already, please prioritize recruiting all possible squad members first. You are pretty much just missing out on good mission-centric dialogue by not having them.

Always appreciate Alex's method of trying to find out what to do next by staring at the map to see what's ... near(?), rather than check the journal for what sounds interesting.

Love this series, but that always gets me.

It's always the eyes that gets me. Having my eyes forced open like that is one of my greatest phobias. Poor David :(
