@m2cks: Dan said on the podcast that they -might- skip PW which is crazy in my opinion. PW at one point in development had the title of MGSV. It's not just some dinky little throw away game. I'm sure there are crucial story elements that will play a huge role into The Phantom Pain.

Out of sync. Not to complain just to inform.

Edit: Seemingly on my end, though I don't know how.

@danryckert@unastrike@drewbert I realize this was done in one recording session, but that mission briefing for Act 1 is a very important 15 minute cutscene. Drew and the audience need to see it. It should have been in the first episode.

Every act has a mission briefing cutscene that plays before the act, the only reason you have to go to the main menu to watch the Act 1 mission briefing is because Kojima apparently thought it would have been too long before the player got to actually play the game.

Again, it's very important. Please watch it for the next play session. I'm gonna keep bugging you guys about it until you do. Tough love.

Yeah, the briefing should really not have been cut. It introduces you to Old Snake's supporting cast, including the little girl, and it sets up the situation with Liquid. You naturally know some of it, but it's still extremely important.

@danryckert Dan, I hope you read this; it's the only and most important precaution I have for a first-time playthrough of MGS4: At the beginning of the "Return to Shadow Moses" chapter, if the game is in Alert Mode when Snake enters the helipad area (directly past the Gekko), then the song "The Best it Yet to Come" (which is the ending credits' theme for MGS1) will not play during the sequence. If the Gekko spots Drew, just have him wait until the alert is lifted before moving onto the next section.

If this thing happens that I'm trying to make not happen, Drew will still get his cake but will be denied the cherry on top.

EDIT: also I wanted to add this @unastrike Jason will hopefully catch this... be a safety net...

Did they really need a 13 minute cutscene to explain that this guy sells you guns? Holy shit

Please keep your Solid Eye equipped when running through these areas. It highlights weapons and items to be picked up. And gives you the sound radar which will come in handy sooner rather than later.

some tips

- You can use MKII to grab all types of mines

- MKII can be invisible so you can use it to grab bunch of weapon for points from a safe place.

- The stamina bar goes down faster if snake is under stress (alerts state, killing people, under enemy fire, etc).

- Clicking the stick (i don't remember which) makes snake change shoulder while is aiming.

- For interrogate enemies hold very softly triangle. Going all the way down triangle makes you kill them.

I cant remember anything else now. Sorry for the bad english : S

Pretty much takes away any punch that Ground Zeroes has as well if you skip it. GZ is as much an epilogue to PW as it is a prologue to TPP.

This really highlights the major design flaws of Act 1. In order to keep the battlefield "alive" any time an AI is killed a new one just spawns in and replaces him, making killing people pointless. And sneaking sucks because the AI is either too busy fighting other AI to give a shit or they're running around in an unpredictable manner. Drew's actually making the game slightly more interesting because he aggroed the rebels (who default as friendly). Otherwise the first half of this video would just be walking through pointless neutral areas doing nothing until a 15 minute Drebin cutscene plays

Let's all give Drew a big hand for taking an action based MGS, and still managing to make it interesting with wild tactics. I don't want this series to ever end.

Man, I love this series but it's frustrating to watch someone play through not knowing about all of the cool things you can do with this game. Shooting out lightbulbs, all the extra stuff they've added like crouch walking, etc etc... The fact that you can flip what shoulder you're aiming over with R3... It would be nice to have Drew go through all the tutorials and learn some of the basics before going onto the next recording session, even if not all of it sticks.

Oh my fucking god Drew.

He literally gets the saving grace of the Rebel Outfit so that he doesn't need to keep killing militia fighters.

And what does he do?

TAKES IT OFF AND START KILLING EVERY MILITIA FIGHTER HE SEES.

Sure, but the octo camo is so freaking rad in of itself it really sucks that you lose that entire gameplay aspect when in disguise. Its a big part of why I hate the late game mission where you are dressed up as younger snake and tailing that guy who gives you a game over if he ever sees you, holy shit is that mission just the worst, and I imagine drew will fail it many times just like i did.

Yeah, me too. It should work in IE and Firefox, so try that. It's annoying having to refresh the video every 15 or so minutes in Chrome to avoid audio sync, so I just started watching GB videos in other browsers until they fix this.

Besides the obvious Naked Gun reference, the number 893 is taken from a Japanese card game, and is the origin of the Japanese word for gangster( 8[Ya] 9[ku] 3[za]). The Soda he drinks is also a reference to Policenauts, which in turn is a reference to Nuke from Robocop 2. The most fun piece of Drebin trivia is that the character design is, in itself not only a reference to Dennis Rodman from Double Team but also, Smuggler from Deus Ex, who was also voice acted by the same person. Granted that Smuggler was probably a reference to Yaz from Double Team, but getting the same Voice actor is really the icing on the cake.

After a lot of frustration lately with audio delay I heard Chrome is having issues with the player. Are audio channels being swapped part of that? 'Cause that was starting to drive me nuts in this video also.

Remember, this is a sneaking mission... ?

@turboman: The underground part is actually somewhat of a challenge if the militia aren't you're friends. Makes for more interesting gameplay I think, otherwise it just becomes a walking section.

@dberg Yeah, I'm actually not certain that's the reason it was cut, but if it is it's a stupid reason considering how much cutscenes are in the rest of the game.

Now that I think about it, I bet Brad or Jeff never saw it. I wish they would have changed that in the 2012 patch, it was supposed to have been shown as part of the "Three Days Earlier" cutscene. But instead, all you get it "kill Liquid because ???".

Both Dan and Drew seem to have completely missed the stuff about the War Price, by talking over the codec, and about Rebels potentially being friendlies.

Probably would have learnt this stuff and more if Drew would ever use the codec.

You're really going to have to up the length of these videos soon. There are like, 70 minute cutscene sequences, one of which is 20 minutes long on its own.

4 games in and Stealth is still a dirty word to Drew. Arrives in a truck with non hostile Rebels, shoots all the rebels. Gets a Rebel Outfit, take it off and shoots all the rebels. Have a sneaky crouch walk thingy, run everywhere. Remarks that no info is being given, talks over info being given. Fascinating way to play MGS games I must say lol

@ch3burashka: CQC is close quarters combat. In the metal gear world it's almost like a fighting style, just like Karate or Taekwando.

It's a thing in real life too.

I remember when I played through, all of these rebel guys were on my side.

Not that its the wrong way to play MGS4, but I already feel this is gonna evolve into Drew murdering everyone lol. I also feel like it took them way too long to realize the circle is actually their radar, lol.

Sometimes I feel like Drew plays the games out of obligation now, lol. Just a little thing that popped in my head after watching him play all of these. Being a person who plays so many flight simulators and stuff he's perfectly capable of handling complicated control schemes. I personally found MGS4 to be the easiest of all the metal gear games with the added control.

I've been having the same problem as well but it happens more in recent videos. I use the HTML player, don't know if it's the same with the other ones. When audio gets out of sync, I usually reload the page and it will play the video from where I left it with the audio synced.
