My head cannon is that Nancy's parents are EXTREMELY rich and just set all of these situations up to entertain their daughter since like most billionaires they have 0 clue how the real world works. They even go so far as to kick all the residents out of towns and hire actors to play every character which is why they are, for the most part, totally unconvincing as people. To explain the inexplicably complex puzzles the parents sometimes go so far as to build entire "sets" to spin this wild narrative and to keep their little princess happy.

Yes! Sadly, Nancy is completely unaware of any of this and really believes she's an amazing detective solving real crimes and mysteries. Bess and George are in on it which is how they are able to provide clues.

I like the idea that Bess gets a pleading call for help from Nancy, and the first thing she does is change her phone background picture.

I've enjoyed watching all of the older Nancy Drew games, but it has been interesting to see the changes in a slightly more modern entry.

Why is every character straight out of a Twitter thread I muted 3 days and 450 tweets ago?

Since it's a premium stream, could they just watch and talk over episodes of the PBS Carmen Sandiego show?

It's weird how they purposefully avoid showing Nancy's face.

I think there was a Layton game with a plot similar to this

Maybe when there's no mystery Nancy has some kind of terrible personality disorder that manifests itself so they need to keep her busy for as long as possible. That's why every mystery has her needing to wait until the middle of the night or a specific time of day to get more clues to space things out, to keep her busy longer. She needs to be kept constantly occupied with a steady trickle of clues she can think about in between eighteen hour naps or Dark Nancy comes out.

Magic Mike XXL is vastly superior to the original, it's attitude towards sex work, female pleasure etc are much better than the original.

I think the only one that isn't is Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon? That was a PlayDate.

There's the horse ranch one somewhere (It's not on the Nancy Drew franchise page in the Wiki for some reason) but I don't think they finished it, it was a PlayDate too but just one video.

I hope that @ybbaaabby eventually plays through every. single. one. of these because that would be amazing! :)

Now it's starting to sound like a cross between The Truman Show and Sybil...

I prefer the charm of the older Nancy Drew games but always down for some Clue Crew.

I would love to see them get to Carmen Sandiego. I feel like Abby would love it.

"I'm not convinced Nancy is innocent"

"Who else might have a motive to burn down the place?"

"Don't know, don't care"

So... you just want to write that Nancy is guilty without really knowing if that's true. And you want to get a promotion for doing so. Sounds like some bang up journalism.

Woah this game is actually really interesting. The gameplay switching is a neat feature. I'm pretty engaged. The last few I've just been in for the Alex/Abby detective duo.

With all the movies and actors Abby does not know and how Dan did not know anything about anything other than Wrestling and games, I think it is safe to say the film schools in the US are a ripoff and do not actually teach anything useful.

Well, Abby seems to have focused in production, so her knowledge of cinematic history and critical theory isn't terribly relevant. My own experience getting a film degree from a pretty good state university is that, like a lot of education in the US, you get out of it what you put into it, and Dan doesn't seem to have put in very much. If either of them were theory focused and very serious about it you would basically end up with Austin (he was media studies or communications I think? But most relevant critical theory crosses over between humanities disciplines). Though to be fair... Austin got his PhD in Canada. =P

And what film school course is going to cover Backdraft? I have a degree in Software Engineering, but knowing the names of the designers of every programming language in existence isn't something that ever came up or would have helped me get a job.

True, they don't teach you film trivia in film school. That would be useless. People who are attracted to film school are just often film nerds.

That town map really reminds me of "Arachnophobia" for the Amiga. Even the way the car moves look similar.
