Quick Look: Bayonetta 2

You know, there are times when Dan taxes my patience, but videos like these might it practically impossible not to like the guy. Especially the end of this video.

So Jeff pretty much summed it up on the latest Bombcast.

This looks great, love the costume details. Dan is like a twelve year old boy playing this, which just really suits him.

@kaigan there seems to more to this than just mashing. Dan does look to use some combos and knows what his weapons do. As with God of War, a very mashy game-series, when you're playing on hard you need to know combos and pull off combinations.

Quick Look: Woo!

Ok I want a WiiU now! This game with Nintendo franchises and monster hunter warrants the price tag.

It's worth pointing out that playing Bayonetta well is much more technical than what Dan's demonstrating here. Saur's YouTube videos are always the recommended way to get a better appreciation for some of this game's depth. This video also provides a pretty good mechanical overview of the demo Nintendo put out for Bayo 2:

Though I think it's really neat that more casual players can completely ignore that complexity and just enjoy the spectacle if that's what they want.

Dan seems mildly amused.

Not gonna watch this cause I intent to go in blind, but man, that ludicrous cover image says everything I need to know.

As someone who bought a Wii-u to try monster hunter and hated the game, I'm glad something other than (perfectly decent) Mario games are coming out for it.

It's pretty endearing that a great game has the same effect on Dan as a cup of coffee does to an 8-year-old.

Guy that skates on chainsaws is one of my favorite characters in Soul Eater.

@rpwll: Even Dan says that he plays Bayo 2 "with his gut", in other words not the most methodical play style. But it's always cool to see the guys learn every system in a game etc., so thanks for posting!

Its a bummer that this game looks so awesome. I don't own a Wii U so therefore no way of me playing it.

I don't know whether it's simply coincidence, but I get the impression you put a lot of time and effort into understanding each game before presenting them. With so many games to cover, the editors of the site don't always have the luxary of delving too deep into the games they're going to quicklook, so it's a real nice change of pace to see your approach.

As a general rule, I really cant stand games like this. Run across cool looking stuff, heres a bunch of crazy monter demon things that you have to kill, magic wall/ barrier thing goes down when everyone is dead, wash rinse repeat wash rinse repeat, heres a screen filling boss monster, hit it a bunch and it dies in an over the top way. Wash rinse repeat.

This sure is a pretty looking one of these games though.

Between this and Shantae, October's got the most hair flipping going on since NEO ZEED!

Glad Jeff wasn't in on this one; probably would of hated it or complained about the character the whole time. Don't get me wrong, he's great for certain Quick Looks, but there are many in which he's unbearable to listen to, this seems like one of those.
