This brings back so many memories ... we played a lot of Dark Eye when I was young. It's a cool Pen&Paper-System ... it's focused a lot more on history and storytelling than D&D and there are less earthshaking, world-changing events than D&D tends to have.

Disappointed to hear that the game is very luck based from the comments. Looking at the all those pages of character stats and development made me excited that maybe you could make really interesting and unique builds in the game but whats the point if in the end you're forced to stick to cookie cutter builds :/

Complains about overwrought animations also remind me of that Lucas Arts Gladiator game. Cool setting, fun combat but having to sit through long ass animations takes its toll on you eventually.

From what I have played, it feels luck based only in the sence that it relys on dice rolls, and a lot of dice rolls never really make sence in dnd. Such that you could be right next to a guy and try to stab them and miss, Just because you rolled a 1. But the idea of leveling up and putting points into things is that, hopefully, if you do it right, when all the modifyers are added that 14 you roll will turn into a 17 and 17 is just enugh to take down that dragon. Its very dark souls in that way.

I was more referring to critical misses, but yah, I do like the dnd system too.

Oh man, Jeff bringing back "duckets" for this quicklook. I still can't play Jamestown without calling them "duckets" thanks to him.

Hasnt anyone learned you do not buy these games day one? Im sure it is playable game and looks great but it will go through a couple of patches before it is really completed. Game has been on my steam wishlist for over 4 months and i can easily wait a while. A 20 minute quick look disappointing.

I have soft spot for the Dark Eye in my heart and this looks a lot like Expeditions: Conquistador which I liked so I'll take a look at this after I worked through some of my backlog.

While I like some of the ideas and stuff, it mainly just seems like this game kind of hates you. You are at such a disadvantage in every single area.

I'd love to have a Mass Effect (or similar) hex-based sci-fi RPG game where the hexes give that modern/sci-fi/GURPSy feel to it. So far Wasteland 2 looks to be the shit in this retro-style game play.

What? Dark Souls can be easily finished without too much trouble with terrible/base equipment/stats if you just know enemies' patterns enough. From this QL and from the comments, that doesn't really seem to be the case at all from this game's difficulty. Randomness isn't Souls at all.

I don't think that's true. But ok.

@arx724: I dont think you can easaly finish Dark Souls anytime. Even if you know the enemy's patterns.

@dagbiker:

But you can. I can easily finish the game in a few hours as long as you've got a weapon that isn't specifically underpowered (like, say, the straight sword hilt, but even that would just take slightly longer as you'd have to rush buffs early on). I've done casual speedrunning of the game, I've done a SL1 double cestus playthrough, I've done a noshield/noroll/slowwalk playthrough. The hard thing about the souls games is your mindset when going into them initially.

They couldn't come up with any name besides "Blackguards?"
