Quick Look: Cabela's African Adventures

I really miss these types of Quicklooks of dumbass games. They really are the best.

My favorite part of this Quick Look might be the parts where Vinny's insane open-world tendencies start to surface as he yells at Alex to do crazy shit. You can tell Vinny just wants to grab that controller and do some sick jumps.

I didn't expect a Cabela's game to have Sirian Werebulls.

This game looks so stupid and yet I'd probably throw down five bucks to play it. I love coverage of these kinds of games.

I might have to buy this. As an actual hunter who takes game management/conservation very seriously, I should be deeply offended by basically everything about this game. Except I'm too busy laughing. Those cutscenes are incredible. Hilarious quicklook.

@j23: I recently listened to a radio show where Ricky Gervais and Joe Rogan talked about wealthy people who give a bunch of money to a CONSERVATION GROUP just so they can be allowed to kill one animal while it's feeding. Really bizarre.

Hunting is horrible and hunting games are garbage. That being said, I will always throw in $2 if I encounter one of the arcade cabinets that they usually have in bars.

The word safari has come to mean both hunting and observation expeditions. I think people still very much go on the latter and the good ones basically fund conservation efforts in order to prevent the former. Safari's are expensive, man.

Vinny - You're right about a zebra's stripes being used as a way to confuse predators. In fact, it was used during WW1 to great effect on the sides of battleships, in order to make them difficult targets for U-boats:

Looking forward to Cabela's Disgruntled Post Office Worker Adventures

I hate sport hunting and the whole culture surrounding it, but I'm kind of into this game, and I might even pay 5 bucks to play it if it was on sale. It's a shame that it's a Cabella's branded thing though, and it's obviously designed to be at least semi-serious. I could definitely appreciate this game if it was just a weird "hey fuck it, let's shoot these animals because that's dumb" kind of thing.

It's kind of like the insane street violence in Sleeping Dogs that's just so fucking awfully cringe inducing that it becomes kind of amazing.

I realize animals aren't exactly people, but somehow these games feel really racist against them.

Hunting is not horrible as it is presented in this hunting game (Hilarious garbage) is pretty foul and does not represent real hunting in any way.

You spend tons of time cultivating an area that allows the animals to thrive and you don't just run in shooting a gun, you build a stand and you wait, its all very controlled and in most cases is done with the animals well being in mind you don't go in to wipe out a heard otherwise what will you hunt?

Conservation in both Fishing and Hunting is 100% any good hunters first thought not to say there aren't idiots who would go out there and get drunk and not do things in the proper way (Not going for kill shots, letting the animal suffer and run off) but those people still can't hunt without proper tags and licenses for Each Season no one wants these animals wiped out there is nothing horrible about it, now going to Africa and paying tons of money to shoot animals on the brink of not existing anymore with no intention to eat it but merely stuff its head and stick it on a wall to show off, that is pretty horrible.

That last Cabelas Big Game Pro Hunts was actually impressively good

Okay buddy.

Like, I have to believe the developers working on this game don't actually care about hunting, maybe some even actively dislike it. And in turn, they want to create a game where hunting seems like the stupidest fucking shit.

They have succeeded and I commend their subversion.
