@cyraxible: Brad had limited weapon options and healing items while facing a constantly respawning wave of enemies. That right there is a losing battle, and it's criminal in a game where health is limited and weapons degrade that enemies be allowed to respawn in that way. There's a difference between establishing a challenge for the player and sticking your foot on the weighing scales to ensure the AI has the advantage.

I don't care about Dead Island that much so I'm laughing about this now, but I'm afraid it will happen soon enough with a game I want to play. When Skyrim gets DLC, I'm sure as shit not going to watch the Quick Look for them before the game is fixed on PS3 and I get to play the original game, because Brad will probably fill in dead air with random tales about major story beats from the regular campaign.

IMO if you're getting the DLC you've played the original...... calm down and stop watching them if it bothers you that much. It's only a game. It it means that much go play the damn thing before watching videos about it. Common sense escapes you people I swear.

It sounds like they patched the main game as well as the DLC so that kicks use stamina in all modes. Kicking used to be low damage means of crowd control, much like shoving in Left 4 Dead. Making it cost valuable stamina seems like it just nerfs player effectiveness in general, since kicking used to be the one "free" way to temporarily deal with zombies.

Even if Brad made it past that sewer part and even if that sewer part is just a small part of the DLC, I have zero interest in it if they took out both the RPG elements and the co-op. That's what made Dead Island good.

I would love a feature to just block maybe like 5-10 particular users, so that when I load a given video/article, their comments (and any replies to their comments) just never appear on my screen. I've learned to not even bother responding to the repeat assholes I'm talking about, but just seeing their misguided, insulting viewpoints over and over is irritating.

The Arena DLC was only free to people who preordered at Gamestop (or got the first print run of copies) and got the Gamestop-only LE of the game. It has a different cover (red) than the regular Dead Island.

Man, that sewer shit looks AWEFUL. I think I'd have probably installed the crazy Fist of the North Star mod for everythinga fter the resort, had I ever decided to play it.

Good to see another bit of content getting the Mass Effect 2 treatment. RPG elements? Buh bye. Loot? Kiiiiiinda. The things that made the original unique and enjoyable? Fuhgetaboutit!

@lockonandfire: Again. I'm not talking about the DLC. I'm talking about Brad and Patrick's criticism of the main game, which I think is unfounded and a result of mismanaged expectations.

Also, he was playing very poorly in this QL and as a result this quick look does a piss poor job at showing off the DLC.

I dont see getting upset about Spoilers, when hey outright say, ""Yo, Spoilers" Also Dead Island...l The story is not one of the reasons you want to play this game.

Arena looks pretty good. Ryder White, not so much. Also bummed they "fixed" the item dupe trick. It actually made the game a little better.

I have Dead Island, but I still haven't played it. Don't worry about the story spoilers Brad--I don't care about the story in Dead Island.

I stopped playing this game at the city. Got to the place where trucks were, and after seeing how worthless they were driving around in the city, I was done. It was just way too crowded and I wasn't having any fun. Now I see what was ahead of me, and man, am I glad I put this game down. I'm in total agreement with the guys when they say how fun the resort stuff is. I really enjoyed the combat (not many true first person melee games out there), so it is quite a shame that I didn't enjoy this game as much as I wanted to. I know I didn't get that far, but I did really try to like this game. I just reached a point where I was having absolutely no fun and it was pointless to play any more. When I heard this DLC got released I thought that maybe I should try and finish the game. Those thoughts are now gone.

Maybe...a SOLDIER should be using GUNS???

This game is soooo much easier with a keyboard and mouse (and no frame rate drops).

I wouldn't mind all the corridor stuff in Dead Island if I could use FUSROHDAH. In fact, I might come to love it.

Playing this game solo is a fucking chore. Also, people going nuts over the story being spoiled need to chill because the story is not great.

@pancakehumper: Have you played much of Dead Island? You would know that gun ammo is scarce, and usually ineffective against zombies.

@Max_Hydrogen: Have you played much of Dead Island? You would know that the worst parts of the game is congregating in this DLC. Infinite respawns, stamina kicks and closed spaces is not what made Dead Island fun. People need to recognize when the game is incompetent and when brad is.

The question in case is the fact that they keep talking about the kick not using up any stamina. I've played the pc version through and I remember quite certainly that the kick did infact use up your stamina. Is this a version difference or am I remembering completely wrong?

Do people really think that this is close to how Aussies sound? I'm tearing my hair out at how dreadfully shit it is, the worst part being that it consists of SO much of the voice work in the game and now clearly the DLC.

God this game was terrible.

Bought it Day 1 and was so excited but man...so disappointed.

I really liked the original mostly for the resort area, like they mentioned. This really looks like the worst parts of Dead Island put into a "new" DLC. Seems like they didn't really add any new content and at $10 this is garbage.

Brad and Patrick are right, the people who make this obviously don't know what is good about their games and if you want them to change DO NOT BUY THIS DLC. Make the developers wallets hurt for putting out such trash I say. Looks awful.

I love Patrick, but it really does raise the question of where the fuck are Ryan, Jeff and Vinny?

I know Vinny has a lot of video production work, but I would really like to see them hire someone to take over a portion of the behind the scenes work so we get to see him more often.

But then, what are Ryan and Jeff doing?

Having constantly respawning enemies like that is a dick move.

Of course, Brad keeps complaining about kicking draining stamina, but almost never kicks even though he's almost completely full on stamina the entire time. Best part is when enemies run at him and he goes "oh shit!" but does absolutely nothing.

I dunno, part of me wants to say that this is kinda poorly balanced (those random enemy spawns are annoying, definitely) but another part of me wants to say that Brad just isn't very good at this game. Granted I've never played it, but it doesn't look any more difficult than a lot of other shooters I've played.

This game can out over 6 months ago. What is the limit for being able to talk about plot points? It seems ridiculous for them always to have to avoid talking about the plot of games because there might be someone out there who still hasn't played it. They always do a good job of not spoiling games which are recently out but once its DLC time or a sequel I think its fair to talk about the previous game. FFXIII came out 2 years ago - I think statute of limitations is past on that one.
