Is this what people talk about when they say "triggered"?

What's up with the drone straight up clipping through a wall though? That looks real janky. The size of the crosshair also makes it seem like you will pretty much hit anything you want to hit.

Pot calling the kettle black here... It's a free game. There's no reason for all this hate from Dan other than blind denial of his former youth.

Sooo can we get Dan to interview David Jaffe ...? THAT would be hilarious.

Man, its really shitty hearing Dan so negative in a QL. Especially when he's super, super down on the game. And coming from Jaffe, its even more disappointing in the end. Sadly, I wanted to get a PC port of this game, but after this QL (and other reviews) I'm not sure I'd even play it as a F2P on the PC.

Also, Internet Dan is scary, and sounds like Cartman to much...

please stop saying this is parody or satire and they KNOW that it is over the top, the developer was linked this article and linked a youtube of a scene from chef where a guy just screams i dont fucking care about you ...

also go read his twitter, it will be very clear he thinks this is a masterpiece and is not self aware parody or satire in any way ... this is what he thinks is a good game

please tell me why the video now has the progress bar at the top, this is incredibly distracting (any progress bar while avideo plays should not exist) making me go to youtube to watch the videos on giant bomb now ... not convenient

for as irreverent as the game itself (and jaffe for that matter) is, you'd figure the fans (and apparent sworn enemies of all things ryckert) would give less of a shit about one man's opinion.

Lol i just played a bit of this. Literally second match, a dude was sitting out of bounds of the map shooting through walls.

Playing the game i don't even notice what the announcer is saying. I do like when the announcer talks through the controller speaker though. I was bottom in the match and he said something along the lines of "hey you're not doing too hot. gonna give you a little boost"

4 players is also too few. Should at least be 3v3 too easy to run around the map and not find anyone for a while.

@dudeglove: Holy shit. Thats the first time I saw that and I almost died from suffocation. Tears were streaming down my face and I couldnt breathe. When the camera turned to vinnys empty seat my stomach started to cramp.

This game looks boring, also I don't like the artstyle on the WHOLE. Individual parts of art look cool but together it looks incredibly unappealing.

Nothing about this game from the first trailer onward interested me personally, but that didn't mean it wouldn't be for anyone. As it turns out though...

I played most of the tutorial and an actual match, but nah mate. This game is just too inoffensive and floaty for it's own good.

I feel like the "offensive" part of this game is how it expects you to love the humor it's putting forth. It thinks the players are such juvenile mushy headed idiots that we will absolutely LOVE what it's putting down. It's almost like the game itself it insulting our intelligence.

Dan in annoyed as hell mode = golden stuff. The way his demeanor and voice goes into overdrive during his tirades, you really feel his hatred for this obnoxious game.

Also, fuck this obnoxious game. Talk about trying 900% too hard.

But, I guess back to the REAL subject, I thought this quick look was entertaining and Dan and Vinny are great together.

@juxjuxjux: Sometimes too much is too much. You can see the point where Dan really gets angry about it even. Its his opinion and I think hes not wrong here, even if Vinnys responses aren't wrong either.

My problem with this game is that it really shows that people can't accept anymore whenever people begin to dislike something about a game, it always has to either fully blindly praised or blindly hated. There you can't have anything in between the spectrum anymore is baffling. Every game ever falls in between these two things, yet people seem to treat things only in extremes anymore, or so I've felt. Like people can get legit angry if you tell them that a game may or may not be 100% god-sent or pure trash.

For me, this game is like the exhaustion of ideas about what teens are into nowadays, it does seem very dishonest about what it wants to tell to the player. It seems like duders such as @dan_rob_campbell are on to something here. The game doesn't really seem to go anywhere with its ideas, its just a collage of what adults believe memes are. The general idea and artstyle are great and they seem to have potential but the execution just seems off.

Its like the perfect example for a game that is "not for everybody" so to speak.

Nothing about this offends me, I just think it's stupid.

I think the comedy is lame too, but I'm not offended enough to care. What would even be the point of getting so upset over this anyway? I have better things to do with my life then rant about how lame something is. Dan seems to have finally become like his old man. I knew it would happen eventually, but I didn't think it would happen this quickly.

Kudos to Vinny for his role here as a secret therapist to help Dan work through his strong feelings on the game. Great way to sharpen his parenting skills too. I also think it's sweet that Dan seems to see Vinny as a kind of role model / father figure even though they're not that much different in age.

This game is weird because while it is profane and juvenile, it is not really offensive. If they were actually doing the schtick of what a shitty kid would write in their notebook they would have to include a bunch of stuff that would actually land them in hot water (e.g. stuff related to race/gender/sexuality etc) but since they can't do that it sits in this middle ground of like trying to be edgelord-y without the tools to actually do that.

Man, Dan sure wasn't kidding about that announcer...

This seems really bad, but Internet Dan is great!

I think you guys have elevated this game to a "play to make fun of" status. Like I want to go to my friend's house and play this with him watching so we can laugh at how ridiculous the dialogue is.

It always seems weird to me when developers include typical internet humor and memes in their games, because by its very nature that stuff never ages well. But seeing that the typical arena shooter has a life span of about a week these days, maybe that`s not a big problem.

Man, what a cool concept that was completely wasted.

@dray2k: Totally, not trying to discount his feelings on the game, I'm just pointing out that the reaction is strange to me. Dan is such an extreme Taco Bell / Mountain Dew / Wrestling character that it's surprising hearing him react so violently. In general, it's hard for me to take him seriously, but I totally appreciate hearing his opinion. I just rarely agree with it.

Also, don't take that as me lavishing praises on Drawn to Death. There are a few neat ideas in there, but it's not for me.

Edit: I also agree with your points on the two extremes that are "allowed" these days (absolute trash or best game ever).

After listening to Dan complain about this game on the podcasts and stuff, but man this QL makes it seem like Dan is overreacting to the humor of the game.

Sure it's stupid, but the impression Dan gave was that they spammed you with it but they don't really do that. I found Dan's imitation much more grating than the game itself.

@steevl: Oh wow, haven't heard anyone talk about that game in maybe...ever. I actually put a lot of time into it because I enjoyed the art style and the basic premise was interesting enough, and the gameplay can be varied enough to be intetesting, but HILY SHIT is the writing bad. It's just so terribly juvenile. Like there's this whole quest where your character is talking about how much he just, like, needs to get LAID, man.

On the one hand, I get that this looks dumb and is trying way too hard.

On the other hand, I don't know if the guy who just went to WrestleMania AND just won a contest to get married at a fucking TACO BELL cathedral has a leg to stand on when calling this shit out.

I teach 10 year old esl kids and some of them would be into this I'm sure. They love crappy meme jokes and will turn everything into dick/fuck references wherever possible. Things that have been used by them 100 times per week recently are: 1+1=fish, suck my wifi, NOTCH! John Cena! You Punk, Are you cereal? (to replace serious). Of course they're pretty young, and English is their second language (barely used outside of the classroom). The above nonsense is all they have gleaned from about 6 months of internet since they all got gifted cell phones for their birthdays.

I think Dan is seeing this too much through his own eyes. Of course it won't appeal to all kids, but from my experience, I think some would find it hilarious.

This game's artstyle and some of its character design is really neat! But yeah, it totally misses the mark on the humour in a way that is very off-putting. I don't have quite the repulsed reaction that Dan does, but it certainly doesn't do the game any favours. I guess, as @agoodbutthaver noted, I'll give it some props for not actually being genuinely offensive and just going for dumb boner humour, but that doesn't avoid the fact that none of it works.

That shark girl is rad, though, albeit a lot less impressive after Zelda's shark people.
