I have to admit I wish this QL were a @vinny + @unastrike joint.

Finally broke down and bought a hat and tee shirt last night and this morning I get a quick look for my favorite game of the summer. Thanks Abby, Ben!

Ben and Abby are great together! Hoping for more ql with them. Also seems like an awesome game, and the fact that its made by the grumps makes it even better!

Youtube's giving me a lot of let's play recommendations for this. Why? Isn't this just another VN?

Edit: Okay, the dad jokes are on point and that Pokemon cameo was pretty funny, too. Seems the writing is at least better than most of the crappy VNs you find on Steam.

As someone who used to follow Game Grumps, there's some pretty good little references in here, guess I need to play through this

@paulunga: A few reasons for that. By all accounts, it's a very well written Visual Novel. It's also a subject matter is not only very meme-y at the moment (dads) but also an underserved one (gay male romance). But the biggest reason is probably due to the co-developer being Vernon Shaw, previously of Hot Pepper Gaming and now part of the wildly popular Game Grumps youtube channel. Due to the comedic nature of both of those shows, I think a lot of people assumed this would be a parody of dating simulators, but as people have discovered that it's actually genuinely sincere, high quality take on the genre, the community has embraced it.

Klepek posted a great write up over on Waypoint. If a visual novel manages to hold Patrick's attention, it probably has a lot more going for it than your bog standard waifu-courter.

At first I thought the entire "every dad here is hot and gay" plot was kinda ridiculous, but when you think about it, the plots of most VNs are. Like "guy transfers to high school where he's forced to join a club that consists of 5 cute girls who can all potentially fall in love with him" isn't any less strange.

I love Ben and Abby's naming system, they should apply that more often.

And they use a rather professional recording setup, there's a stream where they test their 1080p recording setup and Jason goes a little bit through the details. Tho that's the West office, dunno how different the East setup is:

Typed this pre-coffee, but the intention was to be empowering and supportive if that is the case. If he's not, also cool, but he'd be the first public-facing (that I'm aware of) LGBT+ member of the GB crew, which is rad.

And as far as the recording thing, I get the general setup, but as far as instant-feedback recording remotely, since they're across the country from each other, I was curious how they go about that. I've been looking into trying to figure out a way to do this for myself and a few friends, but all I've been able to find is Zoom and I've heard mixed things about it.

@iroh181 I came in expecting the exact same thing, so I don't want to say I'm shocked but I guess I'm a touch surprised. It's still the internet after all.

Yeah, this game is definitely not for me. Feels a bit too try-hard for my tastes, but it does come from Game Grumps so that's to be expected.

@nethlem: I consistently find that as the weirdest thing I hear people say in regards to LGBT stuff.
