I spent a ton of time with 2025 and really loved it. Game had a lot of heart.

Armor increases your max HP after you finish the mission.

Regarding "I have three mode difficulty levels to go through", I'd recommend trying to play earlier missions at higher difficulties as soon as you can somewhat deal with them. It's a lot more fun when the bugs are deadly to you and you get much more awesome weapons that way.

And while the jetpack classes always attract the most attention the others have their own strengths and I found many situations where they actually work much better than the Wing Diver. Downside of Wing Diver is that you have short range (even sniper weapons don't exceed a few hundred meters while rocket launchers on a Ranger have several kilometers) and cannot sustain fire with heavier weapons without impacting your mobility. A WD without jetpack fuel is much slower than the regular foot soldiers (and the Fencer will usually have a horizontal boost that doesn't run out).

Jason rightfully playing the best class.

This needs a sequel that has a PSVR option.

This is the second "weird Japanese game" quick look this month that has made me REALLY want a game. This and Yakuza both look great in ways I could really get behind.

Why have a I never heard of this series before? If only I had a PS4

There was an accidental leak from Steam's helpdesk site of what seems to be upcoming titles, and this game's on the list. If that isn't just Sandlot/D3/XSEED reserving a space but represents a real effort to make a port, as is fitting for this series, we will be able to pummel the terrifying enemy known as frame rate drops into a fine mist with overwhelming alien technology (although I expect the port to be pretty shit). @unastrike Your armor should be way higher than 150 if you beat the game. Collecting the armor boxes increases your max armor after the mission, you can adjust it to max/min in the armor adjust setting in the loadout. I don't know how/why you have it set to its default 150 for the wing diver, it should automatically increase post mission after collecting armor crates. That said congrats on beating the game without leveling your armor :D.

I know with the Wing Diver you have to pick up at least 5 or 6 armor boxes per mission to raise your max armor by a SINGLE point.

I still don't know how the hell Jason beat this game on normal without increasing his armor. That's hard fucking core.

This was in the Steam database leak, so it's definitely coming to PC.

I'm so happy there are finally people on staff who enjoys these games. They're incredibly charming things.

Robot Alchemic Drive aka Gigantic Drive was basically the giant robots parts from this game expanded to a full title. What a F`N game, and on the PS2 no less. Forget this EDF rubbish make a new RAD!!!!

OH WOW. Yeah I was wondering about that. Certainly in all the older games that's true (Armor Limit is used a lot in MP to prevent you teaming up with game breakingly high level folk)

Didnt show off any of the vehicles other than the giant robot. There are tanks, APCs, hoverbikes, etc. Also no fall damage. My wife (gf at the time) and I beat the last boss in 2017 by me flying all the way to the top of the level in a helicopter. When it exploded I fell all the way down shooting rockets at it.

These games are dumb fun.

That's...kind of my fear with games like these, actually. It's a fine line between "dumb fun" and "just plain dumb". The general physics wonkiness, along with jittery framerate and Mystery-Science-Theatre-worthy dialogue makes me want to get this on discount, but not for full-price. (But the "dumb fun" part makes me want to get it eventually, at least!)

What happens whan you beat a mission? Do you get XP of some sort?

I played waaay more Insect Armageddon than I probably should have. It handled lousy, the sequences were repetitive, and it didn't look very good, but damn if it wasn't fun to shoot guns that blow up buildings and pick up assorted loot. A shame this isn't coming out on PC.

This...doesn't look as terrible as every other EDF game I've seen. With steady framerate and physics I could be into this.

I love this series to death. They know exactly what kind of game they're making with these.

One of my all time favorite games, when I saw the Helicopters bring the robot my heart skipped a beat, the design and camera angle is exactly what you'd see in RAD.
