Quick Look: EX: Borderlands 2

The PC snobbery around here has gotten 1 million times worse since the Bomb Crew started talking about playing third party stuff on PC and it's increasingly annoying. Consoles are old now...we get it. 
 
Anyways, I want to watch this and soak in some Blands2 info, but I've avoided watching anything aside from one trailer and it's so close now that I feel like I should just wait and take it all in when it comes up. Insanely excited. 

The Engineer enemy going "I didn't ask for this!" was pretty funny.

Do you become an insufferable twit the moment you buy a gaming PC, or does that come a few days later after all the radiation has fried your brain?

I preordered the game and the season pass. This is a first for me. But the original was just so awesome.

@DeXterminator: I'm just personally burnt out on FPS games and have been for a while, this just isn't enough to inject any passion back into them for me. No need to attack me and tell me to get off the site.

I'll mainly pick this up as there isn't very much to play atm, should be great though.

Anyone who doesn't like EX don't worry, they wouldn't have been able to do any quick look this early before release so really its a bonus! They usually end up doing Quick Looks after release anyway :)

We're gonna have a old school LAN party when this comes out my friends and I, super excited !

EDIT: I bet this looks great with just an AA layer added, edges looks a bit meh on the xbox version.

I played Borderlands 1 on the PS3, but at this point I see no reason to get this for anything else than PC.

This one seems to have a little more questing and story in it. More of a loose RPG this time.

I don't know who Gearbox sent to demo this game, but he is one of the worst presenters I've ever seen in my life. Jeff had to take him by the hand and lead him from topic to topic because he sure as hell wasn't going to talk about them on his own.

I fully expect another QL once Jeff has the game and has some cool shit to show off.

I agree though, Gearbox PR guy just sounds tired.

UE3 pop-in right at the start is pretty bothersome...loved Borderlands, but I could not stand the terrible texture pop-in. It had the worst of any UE3 game I've played.

Completely agreed, he managed to take what should have been a slam-dunk quick look, delivered right to their target audience, into a video that sucks the life from you and made it actively difficult to get excited about tons of new stuff I was seeing.

Man the FOV snap when you sprint and the really narrow base fov is really a turn off.

The frame-rate looks much improved over the original, but it's kind of difficult to tell from the video. Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Yeah this is how Borderlands 2 looks...on xbox 360.

It isn't a far cry from the original and looks more like an expansion pack than a proper sequel in my honest, internet opinion (which of course means nothing in the long run)

I think it'll score averagely. I have pre-ordered a cheap steam code for it regardless...£19.00 British money.

It looks like you automatically pick up ammo and money, which is awesome.

it looks great. it is like much better version of original Borderlands. i think they did great job to not change everything what was already good.

I'm really surprised that the game still has that paint in thing. Not that it bugs me, I loved the first one warts and all. But it was something that quite a few people were complaining about so I assumed they would try to get rid of it. Maybe it's purposeful?

I'll defend the Creative Director and assume that he was just flying by the seat of his pants, was tired, or does not have allot of presentation experience. No biggie.

Between this and Jeff's comments on Darksiders 2, I think he has some sort of obsession with regenerating health as quickly as possible.

Was tempted to get the 360 version (because that's what most my friends will play it on) but after seing this, I dont know. Texture pop-in and jaggies are things that really dont go well together. And I think this QL would've gone much better if the guy just let Jeff play so he (the creative director) could concentrate on answering questions, I mean it's not like he reviewed the last game or anything. (it's got nav points ffs ;p)

That combat music really sounds like inertia creeps by massive attack

some of that could just be from GB media player not running in hd

Wow, framerate was sub-par on 360. So pissed they've waited so long to release new hardware. Don't want to play this on PC.

yeah if that's the case that is a huge improvement, i just hope they keep some jaggy stuff like being able to get the Knoxx's armory no timer glitch or fight Crawmerax single player (although even with the "hiding on the edge of the cliff" exploit i still only killed him twice and he killed me like 10 other times single player- i didn't have anyone to play co-op with - i was just bad at doing the exploit i guess?), but yeah sometimes cheats or glitches and stuff are fun, its why i liked demons souls better than dark souls, i had a duplicate items glitch in demons souls! And designed cheats like the 30 lives code in Contra made Contra one of the best games ever, etc...

I'm hoping they handle loot like Diablo III does because my friend is a jerk and steals all the loot.

Yes, because I read Gamemaster UK for all my gaming advice and needs. A magazine notorious for getting paid for good reviews.

And 60% sounds more like the score I would give it so far.

I tried to avoid this so that everything would be a wonderful surprise. I obviously have zero willpower.

Sounds like Troy Baker voices the Commando in this one. Sold.

So basically Borderlands but with awesome added features and more streamlined... SOLD!

Love that you can now put your turret away, guns looking great to. Appears they've made the perfect Borderlands sequel.

I've been waiting for a game to get me to stop playing Diablo 3. This is definitely that game for me.

I tried so hard to enjoy the first one. I even tried again since it is free for PSN+ users, it still bores me to tears.
