Having been in the beta, there are three things that stuck out to me they need to fix: a) load-times; b) framerate; and c) load-times.

They fix those three things and they have a hit on their hands. This game goes SUPER deep.

I'm pretty sure they invite devs that they feel they can speak their mind with. When you think about it Jeff was fired for his opinions, I'm pretty sure it's not NOW that he or anyone else in Giantbomb will start sucking it up.

Something strange happens when they are playing toghter. In the lower left player. It looks like the face is not syncing with the helmet or something.

I was in the Beta, the creation tools for cars and tracks were really good, but I see they have not fixed the long loading times or glitches so unless they can fix those things I'll pass.

This game looks great. I love kart racing games, and the whole editor looks awesome. Hoping the loading won't be as long when it's released... :p

Looks a little rough, but I still think it'll be pretty solid. Wish I had a PS3 to play this on. :(

Wow, I have to say, that track creator is pretty cool. I've never ever made any map or track for any game I've ever played, and this creator is the first one that actually makes it look fun, simple, and really quick.

Presumably they will since this is another flagship title in Sony's Play. Create. Share. thingy... So I sure hope so.

Also, the powerup weapon system is the exact same as that Lego Racing game on the N64. The level 3 boost was also a warp.

Also this is the far cry 2 map editor lol! Awesome. I have had this game on my radar for a while, didn't get into the beta though :(

Lego Racers already did the multi-tiered powerups. In fact the speed boost one crated a portal just like this game. Not to knock this game, it is a good idea I am surprised hasn't shown up in more games.

The creation stuff looks absolutely amazing. But then at the end of the video the gameplay struck me as no different than any other kart racer.  To buy this, I sort of feel like the gameplay needs to do something to wow me a little more, because I'm not going to buy it for user made tracks alone.

Yeah, Dev quicklooks are certainly toned down a bit, and while most PR people tend to have that irritatingly artificial ad slang (not that i'm blaming them, it's their job) that kind of damages the un-cut genuineness of regular QLs the risk of completely missing an impressive feature goes down, so its not completely without pay-off.

And man, occasionally the Dev seems honestly pumped about it too, which always helps.

Track creator looks awesome.  All of the auto-complete and other ease of use features should be in every creator made from here on out.  Track/level creation often seems too much like a chore, but that actually looks like fun.  Whip up some terrain, toss down a quick track, and then autopopulate and tweak to your liking.

The racing I'm unsure about - just looks like the same kart racing game that's been around forever.  I've been dropping traps among item boxes since Mario Kart 64.  Blur I'm much more interested in trying out as a racing game.

ETA: Also agree the QL EXs tend to be hit or miss.  Winterbottom was great, but you just as often end up with PR answers to lightly critical questions instead of honest thoughts about how it plays.  For example, Brad asking about customization of the speed/acceleration/turning of your kart only to find out its not there.  I'd rather hear about if it sucks that you can't do that than some PR reason why it's not in there.

If the guy wasn't there with them, then the game wouldn't be there with them either, did you not listen at all to what they said at the beginning? Its a press run, the company is going to media outlets everywhere and showing the game off, thats why often Giantbomb does their own quick look later; its nice of the developer to let us see the game earlier though, and that's why Giantbomb does the EX so we know its "bias", but these games often have bugs and are not finished (loading times in this game), and so a guy is there to explain that and show it off.

Dude, those loading times are STILL too long. WAY too long. I´ve played the beta and the customisation stuff was really cool, kinda like STUNTS (4d Sports Driving?) meets Little Big Planet. But man, those loadtimes SUCK!

I was all like "looks okay" when it was announced at E3, but it seems every day since my interest has increased bringing it to the point where this is probably one of the games I'm most excited for.

I've said it before I'm sure but I LOVED the creation and sharing aspects of LBP, I just think they fell a little short on the "play" end of the deal.

I'm still super nervous about this one as kart-racing gameplay has to be near perfect for me to really get into it (see Mario Kart and/or Crash Team Racing), but if they can get that right I'll be totally stoked - and, more importantly, totally sold.

As long as the load time is maybe five times faster, it's a go for me. I'm not a huge racing game fan but this one has me intrigued. Got to love those cart racers. And the community aspect seems great, definitely a must get for me!

The Crackdown announcer is in there.  It looks kind of cool, but it seems like a glorified Mario Kart that took way too long to make, especially when there are already several kart games out there.  The editing is what will make or break it, but LBP and Spore flamed out, so that's pretty much been proven already.

Played the beta, was fun.  The most fun I had on it was making a course where you drive up the side of a mountain and then jump from a ramp onto another mountain.  Too bad no-one played it : -(

Between this, Mario Kart and Sega All Stars, the (proper) racing genre is finally making a come back!

The framerate and load screens definitely need to be fixed though.

Don't people understand that developers will not let giant bomb post a quicklook of an unreleased game unless a developer is there to do the playing an contextualizing? No developer = no quick look. Giantbomb is trying to cultivate relationships with game studios. What sense would it make for them to turn down developers who want to show them games?
