Yeah, that "Moment in Motorsport"... was pretty terrible.

Watched for the racing, came to the comments for Initial D.

I don't really get driving games. Come to think of it, I don't really get driving sports either. None of the whole sordid business seems that entertaining.
Incidentally, I don't particularly like driving my actual car, either.

I'm a dummy who paid $130 for the super special edition or whatever so I could start playing it early. This is a much better Motorsport game than Forza 5 was, thankfully.

Oh Jeff, I am one of the insane ones who turns the damage setting to simulation.

Having not played 5, I was surprised to hear the auction house stuff from the 360 games has gone. That was really good fun, kept me looking at it regularly to see if anything new and cool was available.

Why would they remove that?

Every time I see a Forza game, it just makes me sad that arcade racing games don't exist in a big way anymore. Simulation isn't for me, give me more Burnout and the like.

How does Forza look so good and run so smoothly yet no other racing games do?

Beemers are great if they're 80s or 90s (especially that mid-80s sharknose M6 just WOOOOOOHAAAA). Now they're bloated gunk, though.

I'm glad to hear there's someone else crazy who likes to drive from the cockpit view. I do that in any game that offers it.

Those Mod Packs are soo weeeird. It feels like it was supposed to be a microtransaction system that someone axed at the end of the development.

Watkins Glen is in upstate New York, not Texas. It's way too hilly a track to be in Texas.

Rear view mirror has a different perspective, so game the has to calculate it separately. That is why it is often at lower quality (frame rate, resolution, polygons on the models etc.).

Hood reflection is just a flip of actual view with some displacement mapping (or projection). That is why the perspective of the hood reflection is "odd" - it is incorrect.

@gregorygold: Well they may have started out like that but nowdays they are just a normal japanese car. Alot of flashing lights and gimmicks.

Edit: Looking at Jeff driving the Lexus, why is there always crushed blacks in cockpit view no matter what game?

@gregorygold: They are the everyman's mercedes with toyota quality, which was true in the early 2000's and became complete bullshit some time later. But I guess Lexus buyers don't read car reviews.

For Jeff's daily trips it's probably still a really nice car.

@gregorygold: A Lexus is a "luxury" Toyota, just like Acura is for Honda and Infiniti for Nissan. A Lexus is a nice step up from your typical Toyota that is still relatively affordable for your average family.

I don't think they are meant to compete with BMW's because they're not in the same price range really, but they are more reliable and cost efficient vehicles. If you think of a Toyota as rank 1 and a BMW as rank 2, then a Lexus is like a 1.5, a nice half step towards that "luxury" standard.
