The moment Jeff went on the Internet and started looking at stock prices, I knew we were in a Rockstar game, lol.

I wish they'd unleashed Vinny on this game. This game needs to go through the Vinny trial.

@pudge: i think you got it in reverse. saints row stole from and came out after GTA dude.

Except for the weapon wheel. And the GPS stuff. And decent gunplay. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I just think it's a sad double standard where GTA doesn't get called out for the kind of shit that Saints Row always got called out for.

And decent gunplay. That is a really ridiculous thing to say Saints Row invented decent gunplay. Could it possibly have inspirations from other games? Or just general improvements that naturally happen over time. All you're doing is stoking the fire of the stupid "this game stole x from y" arguments. Any people who have spent a decent amount of time around either series knows they have become very different from one another.

I don't know, the heists look cool but everything else looks so GTA 4-ish. I don't know that i'm still interested in this type of game. It looks fine, just not for me anymore i guess.

An incredibly well executed, open-world game and also happen to be a completely run-of-the-mill Rockstar game. I am only 12 hours in but I am comfortable saying Red Dead was better than this, just my 2 cent.

This game just looks super dated. Three characters that you can switch between isn't enough of a difference to make playing this game new and interesting in any way.

This game just looks soooooo boring, but maybe I'm in the minority for wanting new gameplay experiences rather than wholly recycled concepts with a layer of cookie-cutter story.

Great Quick Look, glad I got to see a pretty large cross-section of the game. It does look beautiful. Way more tempted to buy it now than before.

I think Brad was on to something, if this was just a little more like Project Diva I think I would happily pay full price for it.

Eh, this might actually be the first GTA game I consider playing... but I also got bored of Red Dead Redemption a few hours in so I look forward to picking this up when it's on steam for $10 in like two years.

A little bummed out this wasn't released on PC at launch. All of this PC and next-gen console activity has the current gen consoles looking so dated. Hopefully those of us who wait can avoid story spoilers! ;)

The cops are pretty good at pinning your car in a way that you cannot drive away, and as they said, you die pretty fast once you get out.

Can't wait until this is on PC. I wouldn't like playing a GTA game with such casual aiming.

You can turn off all the auto-aiming stuff in the options (same as Max Payne 3, RDR, most of Rockstar's games, I believe), I went that route. I basically turn off auto-aiming / aim assist in every game if possible.

I'm sure this game's great, if it would fuckin' work. Froze up in the beginning sequence (before it would save) three times in a row... I don't feel like playing that sequence again tonight. Fuck jank! And loading off of hard drives. What ever happened to the days when games just worked?

360 version, by the way. Beware.

SO I did that first heist too, my gunner died the same way,

but you CAN pick up the bag of money he drops!

I hadn't realized I had picked it up, but later in the mission Michael asks Franklin if he got the money and he responded "yeah I managed to pick it up"

so that's cool, bad Jeff with your misinformation!

As someone who doesn't play GTA games, it's kind of nuts how much stuff the series has stolen from Saints Row over the years. That weapon wheel looks REALLY familiar.

you've never played Saints Row

Looking at my Steam profile, I've played at least 50 hours of Saints Row on PC, and that doesn't count my 100% playthroughs of the first two games on 360, and 30-50 hours of multiplayer in the original Saints Row. So, yeah. I've played Saints Row.

Come on, get real. Everybody knows it's SR stealing from GTA.

Why is it so hard for people to grasp that series can borrow/steal from ONE ANOTHER? In the beginning SR took from GTA, maybe now that SR is a big brand well known series it isn't completely insane for GTA to take from it and vice versa. Medal of Honor/Battlefield and Call of Duty have switched back and forth on taking from each other, Tomb Raider and Uncharted as well, games have always borrowed from other games.

I agree with you 100%! The only reason I said anything was that Saints Row is the only series that gets shit for it, while GTA is considered the work of the gods brought down by angels. As a long time fan of Saints Row (and as someone who enjoys those games more than any other open world franchise, going all the way back to the first one), it's just frustrating.

It would be stupid for series not to borrow from each other, but there were 10 people jumping out of the woodwork in this thread to defend the sanctity of GTA. If I posted the same thing in a Saints Row video, there would just nods of approval and more jokes.

Right. And Saints Row 1 came out four years prior and had a weapon wheel. It introduced the concept to the open world genre, and Rockstar wisely copied it for their games. They really should copy the Saints sprinting as well, mashing on a button is not fun.

@dystopiax: Right, and you obviously don't read, because that's the point I was trying to make earlier. I got 10 comment notifications saying how "Saints Row copied GTA you fool!" when I posted my original comment, but obviously Saints Row had that feature before GTA or any other game in the genre. I know games copy features, that's fine. But If I bring up that maybe Saints Row had an original idea or too even before the series went crazy, everyone goes nuts and calls me a liar. I find it funny is all.

I agree that GTA should also probably have taken some more influence from Saints Row or other open world games in regards to some of its other aspects but it's not like GTA is taking credit for stuff like the weapon wheel. Your original post made it sound like a bad thing for GTA to take influence from Saints Row, even though its clear now that you are very much in favor of that.

Am I the only person that finds all the people posting about waiting on the PC version, which hasn't been announced and may never exist, really annoying? And I play games on the PC. I don't know, I go where the games are, not complain the games aren't where I am.

As for the Saints Row vs GTA arguments. It's just boring and dated. Saint Row 3 put an end to that, that series came into its own then and left the GTA knockoff comparisons behind. Both are great, spend time playing the one(s) you like not arguing with people over which one copied whom.

This is the first time that I took a good look at GTA V and while it looks great, it still seems to have some gameplay quirks that GTA IV and RDR had. Mainly the auto aim which I don't care for at all. Plus the fact that the cops are still on your ass for every misstep. I wish there was a way to just toggle that off.

Nice of you to bring personal insults into it.

The reason I said that is because your original comment heavily implies that GTA steals heavily from SR but not necessarily the other way around while not mentioning the fact that the reason SR exists is because a publisher wanted to cash in on that sweet open-world money.

So yeah, while SR has done a lot to polish up the way open-world games play, I wouldn't say it's entirely accurate to say that "kind of nuts how much stuff has been stolen from SR", especially when it's kinda obvious that much more has been stolen by SR from GTA than the other way around.
