Patrick pretty much nailed it when he said JSR has the better soundtrack, but JSRF plays better. I still like JSR for its style and characters over the other but purely on an aesthetic level.

The framerate feels really low to me. I always preferred JSRF to JSR.

I love these games and have every single song. I will submit and say the Dreamcast version isnt so hot anymore and the Xbox version is a bit rough too. I dont care because I still love them

I think that's insane. JSR had a pretty bad soundtrack compared to JSRF to me. Dragula had no business in JSR. The Chemical Brothers stuff in JSRF is awesome.

I don't know what it is about this and Sonic Adventure. They're bad games that I love to play and I don't understand why.

Surprised that they never put in a trick system that will add time, glad I have no nostalgia for this. Game still looks interesting for the visuals of it but the game seems punishing in a non-fun way.

I hope those constant half second freezes are video player issues and not the game.

Oh my god! You guys are really bad at this game. The way you played it makes it seem really boring. You are supposed to be grinding the whole time. Oh lord.

I can't argue with their criticism of the way this game has aged. I do hope that JSRF gets the same treatment. I played that one for the first time in 2009 and thought it held up fine.

Regarding Patrick talking about Naganuma's career at Sega after the JSR games, he did the Sonic Rush soundtrack which is very similar in style and probably the best thing about that game.

FUCK THE NOISE TANKS! I got stuck on that fucking level for weeks on the Dreamcast version way back when. I hate those fuckers. Watching this reminds me of how many of the levels were bullshit in JGR.

WOW!  I had no idea about that.  I'm slightly interested in Sonic Rush now.  I've loathed Sonic games, but this seems really cool if just for the soundtrack.

Jet Set Radio is one of those things that people should keep in their memory as great and not try to replay without nostalgia goggles on. The style and character is great, but replaying the game after years is not the best enjoyment.

The saddest part is that Sega never bothered to modernize it. May have been really fun to see the formula translated to newer generations.

I'm reaaaaaally tempted by this despite all the negativity. I played Future for the first time about three years ago and it jumped instantly onto my list of favourite games. The difficulty stuff about the time pressure/police would probably be irritating, JSRF is really, really easy... I should probably keep my memories of that game pure.

Today in Patrick having one thing to say about a game, and repeating it for 20 minutes. I love you Scoops, but respect your audience a bit. You used to like it, but it might not have aged well. I was with you the first time you said it.

Just as a heads-up, JSRF IS backwards compatible, but it has a lot of framerate dropping problems on the 360. Doesn't make the game unplayable but it can be annoying in some sections.

I bet the game is still pretty cool if you're good at it. But I get not being willing to unlearn the conveniences of the present. This was one of the few DC games I really liked, and I bet I would be awful at it now.

It's a real shame that this game has aged so poorly, especially when it still looks and sounds so good. They should fix the controls, add a mini-map, pull the best levels from both games and release an HD Remix of this franchise.

This was THE game I bought a Dreamcast for. Loved loved loved it. I agree it's aged.....not so gracefully, but it was really frustrating watching them stumble around the score attack level for 20 minutes (re: not a real "story" level) complaining about how the game wasn't telling them where to go....

But yeah, those "tag the boss" levels were awful for sure....even in 2000. And that camera/frame rate hitches are just a huge bummer.

Ryan - if you bring in JSRF, don't play it on the 360. It slows down quite a bit and you can't use any custom graffiti. I just broke it out a few weeks ago in prep for this (which I'm now not buying) and wound up playing it on the original XBox because the performance was crappy on the 360.

Neither game has aged well. I guess JSRF is better, but it's still not some incredible treasure that is as good as you remember it.

The stuttering in this QL is AWFUL. Downloading the demo now to see if it happens on my machine.

As a fan of the original, I'm really enjoying this re-release. Yeah, the controls are really finicky but I haven't had any major technical issues so far. Sucks that the game hangs for some people, though. Really hope they patch that shit soon.
