I love video games where you wander around aimlessly with no goal in environments that wouldn't look out of place in an Xbox 1 Launch Title!

Isn't this game like a year old?

It was released on Steam a month ago, so by GB standards its hot off the presses.

I didn't really enjoy the game much, it was a little too open in its design and felt more aimless than anything.

This doesn't really compete with Antichamber for first person puzzling but it seems alright.

strong myst vibes. think I might need to buy this.

It's a really different experience. I think they compliment each other. I beat it a few weeks ago and found it really incredible. The puzzles are never too hard but they are usually interesting and the art style and atmosphere is really cool.

The Nardwuar vs. Questlove interview i saw today had that jammin on the one thing as well... cosby show? I don't get it, but it's a hype line though.

It's art. 5 stars.

I really enjoy the visuals and the eerie musical cues. Might get this at some point.

Guess I need to give this a try, anything first person atmospheric (Proteus, Dear Esther) is right up my alley.

Hrm

Looks pretty cool if you are into this type of game. I'm not sure If I personally really dig the abstract nature of the puzzles in games like this. I like a little agency to drive my progress forward in a game rather than just for progress's sake.

This looks a lot like Fantastic Game but more artsy and not free.

This looks really nice, not convinced on the interactive elements but it sure looks good.

There are puzzles. They just don't require specific timing or button presses.

Enjoyed the hell out of this game.

Also Ryan pressing "m" brings up the map - helps a lot in certain places.

There's something very Suspiria about that red room alright. It's neat how they can create an atmosphere with a pretty low production value.

It probably comes from the basic music principle of keeping the groove on the one(first beat in the bar). I'll let Bootsy explain it.

Awesome. So glad the guys got the chance to look at the game. I know Kairo is not for everyone but hopefully a few of you watching/reading enjoy it. There's a free demo on my site if you don't wanna drop money on it yet.

@pudge: Is it really that hard to appreciate an 'experience' when you're surrounded by the same old FPS's, RPG's and the like? I still have trouble justifying purchasing something I can't quantify in points or achievements, but I expect to jump that hurdle soon enough. It's not even an 'are games art' argument - it's just an unorthodox approach to story-telling that becoming more prevalent, and I'm all for that.

This game looks like a really interesting puzzle game and I think the Myst/Anti-chamber comparison sounds pretty close. I like the very minimalist and stark artistic style as well, it is very evocative with the bare amount of visual cues. I dont think I will buy it at full price, but it seems interesting enough to keep it in the back of my mind for when it goes on sale

I cannot explain why because it's really not THAT funny, but I laughed for ten straight minutes when I read that! Being up for almost 20 hours straight helps, but still.....

@patrickklepek The movie/tv series this looks a lot like is Stargate. Architecture is the same kind of weird quasi-Egyptian stuff, especially in the rooms with the giant light beams and floating rings.

First thing that came to mind when Ryan uttered that word....

WHOA dude. Calm down. Just because I don't like boring interactive walks through the park where half the game is wandering through the same rooms because you're lost doesn't mean I'm any of those profanities. I never liked this shit, I didn't like Myst back in the day. I watched part of the video and made a comment, and then watched the rest, and I was falling asleep by the end of it. Different strokes for different folks, no need to get so uppity about it.

Although, I wouldn't put it past you to ignore this post entirely and keeping shitting on me because you seem like an indie humping artsy fartsy wannabe.

the dev of this game mentioned on twitter to ryan later that the music room is just there for fun, but he also mentioned he should've made that more obvious. also this game seems cool but not really something that's fun to watch

What a bizarre looking game. Intriguing, but not sure I would be able to play something like that to the end.
