also I am anime trash baby and thank you for this... this game also is the first time something has 'finished' the whole story outside of the manga which means they are ahead of the anime in most cases.

I'm a little disappointed the first comments here were not centered around how "Naruto" is actually pronounced.

I went through a Naruto phase in college and have always assumed it would have disappeared between then and now. Apparently ninja boys and girls are a Manga / Ahhhhneeemay powerhouse

Love the show but more than 50 percent of it is filler. They have been doing a filler arc for over a year now that is super annoying because the main story is finally coming to a close. Been looking forward to this quick look since the last Naruto quick look they did was pretty good.

This game is alright if you've never played one of these before, if you have than you should skip it.

@beanswater: it's gone way off the main story from the magna. I think last year the show aired about 6 non filler episodes.

I stuck with the manga through the end and it got real bad there after the Pain arc and then abysmal once the war arc happened. But I still really dig these games and I like a lot of the people in the Naruto universe.

That said I still really want a game that goes through the entire series, from Zabuza all the way to Kaguya Otsutsuki. Toss the Boruto movie in there too, why not. That;s the Naruto game I want.

Naruto's not great it alright some arcs are pretty good it gets kind of bad near the end but the dialog in this game man.

This is an absurdly long quicklook for a Naruto game. That is okay with me.

Thought Austin was the anime guy sucks that no one knows what Naruto is all about for this game. The story mode looks bad and playing with English dub is a bad idea.

I'm a fan of ill anime fights (Asura's Wrath, Metal Gear Rising, Attack on Titan) but I don't get much else from anime. I feel like I should give Naruto a try but I rarely hear positive things about it.

It's not bad, they made a few really good changes, to the gameplay especially (the ability to switch characters on the fly gives you more options and a bit more freedom when it comes to combos for example), and the boss fights are as crazy as ever. The problem is that most of the story is presented with stills from the anime in a way that won't make much sense to you if you haven't watched the anime and/or read the manga and even the cutscenes that are in engine only exist in the form of videos with terrible compression (which is weird because the bossfights are way crazier than anything in those videos and they run totally fine). So everything that ties the bossfights together is not as good or interesting as it could have been.

The visuals are slightly better, especially the particle effects but it's disappointing that it's still locked to 30fps even on PC. As far as the combat system goes, aside from the changes it's pretty much the same, meaning that it's fluid and pretty to look at but it lacks the depth that you would expect from a fighting game. Basically, if you've played UNS3 or Revolution there's not a ton of new content in this one and it's probably a good idea to wait for a price drop. If you haven't played one of those games in a while or are new to this series then this is the one to get. Now you know a lot more about this game than you ever wanted to.

As far as the anime goes, I enjoyed Naruto up to the pain arc, after that it really dropped in quality and even though there still are a few neat moments every now and then, I mostly watch it because I might as well finish it after coming this far.

@austin_walker Naruto's thing is that he's blunt and pretty rude. It works better in Japanese, original V/A being one reason. Naruto doesn't use honorifics and generally speaks very informally to people, but because he's also a super ace guy who's really gutsy, he's meant to come across as endearing. It can be pretty funny when Naruto tells a bad guy to "shut the hell up" when they start explaining their evil plans.

Those slide-show cutscenes are just terrible, I don't know what the hell was happening during the action moments.

The things they're saying are incredibly stupid either way. But yeah, Naruto's English VO in particular is terrible.

I am now beginning to understand why there's so many players named Madara Uchiha in FF XIV. It makes me want to play with those people even less.

Hooooooly shit, seems like most of the english cast just phoned that shit in. And, hooooooly shit those cutscenes/dialogue are so bad.

Also, I'm a pretty big fan of Naruto too. It has some absurdly bad, drawn-out arcs, but overall I had a lot of fun with it. /shrug

There is an actual reason why Naruto is kind of angry at this point of the story. Hint: The guys that is fighting against are directly and indirectly responsible for the dead of his parents (so he grows as an orphan with the ninja world equivalent of a nuclear bomb trapped inside him so everyone in his home village hates him), half of his world current conflicts and helping to corrupt his best friend. Not that the game is any good to explain all this, mind you.

Do I even bother watching Shippuden? I'm sure someone here knows of a watch guide to skip filler?

Thought some stuff kind of requires context to get why it means something to the characters. The garbage stuff gets a little less silly when you remember Kakashi saying about "those who abandon camarades are trash/garbage".
