Would this happen to based on the 1920's german film by the (almost) same name? No? Okay.

I like the subtitle, whatever it means!

My german is pretty bad, but I think it means "The Eyes of the World".

I'm surprised at how much this is basically a reskinned Eldritch, even the menus and the powers. That's not necessarily a bad though I guess, because I thought Eldritch was pretty rad.

Vinny literally says what it means in the first 30 seconds.

Also, those walls look like they're just straight up untextured. They just look like place-holder dev textures.

One for us brits but Jillian Cleary is so close to Julian Clary it's got me wondering if it's just a co-incidence. Not that I see any thematic reason for it, mind.

Why does the world look like a minecraft adventure map with a texture pack? It's weird. I feel like I've seen most of this game as a Minecraft mod.

I like the general ideas of this dude but the art style of this (and eldritch) leaves something to be desired.

That scene if from Higurashi no naku koro ni. It doesn't get any lighter in context!...and/or does after the second season.

So basically it means "kingdom of the weird".

@vinny: 0451 or 451 are pretty common Fahrenheit 451 references.

As others have mentioned, the Knife Vs Head scene is from Higurashi (first season). If you like anime, it's actually a fantastic show, especially when you get to the second season.

Not really games lore as it is based on "Fahrenheit 451" which is what Sys Shock, Deus Ex, and most distopian future games got it from.

The door code 0451 is also an homage to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

eldritch is basically something not of this earth and potentially supernatural.

The word is actually derived from elritch which means "of an uncertain origin".

Honestly that is not nearly the worst of that series has to offer.

Higurashi. I have so many good things and so many bad things to say about that show. I totally recommend everybody watch it. And warn everybody to avoid it at all costs.

Games are coming full circle. First they looked like 8-bit top-down rpgs, then 16-bit SNES platformers. Now here's a Playstation 1 stealth game with less aliasing.

I know I am probably in the minority on this website, but I don't get why these types of games are appealing.

It's a pity this game's graphics are so 'plain' (by which I mean hideous), the concept could make for something visually interesting if nothing else.

Instead it looks like someone tried to make Deus Ex in Minecraft.

So I've been playing the first Deus Ex game for the first time since it came out 15 years ago and I can pretty safely say - this is Deus Ex. This may not have RPG style progression like it does, but the handling of stealth, gear, even the hidden-room-in-your-apartment are all there.

Its a lot of trial and error and careful saving and reloading - which isn't for everybody, but I'm okay with.

Honestly i prefer the visual novel over the show and will always recommend those instead. The creepy factor is even higher then the show.

451 was also used on the first door in System Shock 1. So, yeah, someone at Looking Glass was probably pretty fond of Fahrenheit 451. I thought they had also used it in Ultima Underworld a couple of years earlier, but I can't find anything confirming that.

Austin and Vinny need to figure out how to avoid talking over each other.
