The storyline is Deus Ex isn't it? So was there another way to figure out that Looking Glass code besides already knowing it?

Higurashi is great.

Other than the opening, the rest of the game bored me.

451 was also used on the first door in System Shock 1. So, yeah, someone at Looking Glass was probably pretty fond of Fahrenheit 451. I thought they had also used it in Ultima Underworld a couple of years earlier, but I can't find anything confirming that.

The door code 0451 is also an homage to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

I haven't researched it and I assumed you were probably correct, but here at about 12mins in:

http://www.gamespot.com/videos/deus-ex-lets-play/2300-6426050/

Warren Spector says that while many believe it's a reference to Fahrenheit 451 it was actually the keycode to get into the Looking Glass offices in Cambridge. Of course the keycode could have been a reference itself, but anyway that's what he said about. It does remind me of really poor code/password choices made by fellow IT workers in the past who didn't stop to think sci-fi references were probably the easiest guesses :).

Spector might be wrong too, that's how it goes with old legends and such, I just found it interesting and decided to report it back here.

This reminds me a lot of Deus Ex, with some Minecraft style and a hint of Tron.
