With Alex really liking the game and Dan not liking it at all this is a good choice for GBEast.

What a delightful game that I'm literal garbage at playing.

This game is pretty fantastic. Dunno if I like it better than Bastion or Transistor yet, but I know they nailed it again.

Finished it late last night. This is my new favorite Supergiant Games game.

Hearing them talk about it in the early development stages, I had no idea what this game would look like. Needed this QL.

This announcer sounds like Die Hard era Alan Rickman

I wasn't thinking Alan Rickman but I thought it sounded like someone that could have been a character in a Harry Potter movie haha.

Also Pro Tip for anyone having trouble with the Rites part, it becomes way better to control using a controller.

Really like the presentation and look of this game. The gameplay isn't quite grabbing me. Right now it's simply "pass to Rukey, sprint to pyre". But they said it gets more complex so I keep plugging along.

The Voice is same voice actor (Logan) as the narrator from Bastion / Transistor. Dude has range.

I found the enemy AI too passive on Standard difficulty. Turn it up to Heightened if you haven't already. The difficulty curve ramps up the further you get into the story. By lategame, there are additional in-world difficulty toggles that give the AI bigger bonuses while netting you bonus EXP/Enlightenment.

Extremely digging this game. I still prefer Transistor's aesthetics but Pyre is still gorgeous. I wish the rites were longer just for how fun it is so play strategy dunk ball.

The visual novel stuff is also really good. The ability to always highlight important things, and the explanations for the choices you can make are very welcome.

Also I can't not put Jodariel in my team because I lover her so much. She's so cool.

He sounds so familiar and it is driving me nuts because I can't find who it is.

For real? Man, I was convinced they got the narrator from Pit People.

I have dug Super Giants style in the past but never connected with the gameplay, but this game is speaking to me. Like a lot of good sports, it has a real rhythm to it. I find it extremely satisfying. 100% recommend.

I was finding it pretty basic and easy, turned the difficulty up and it's bit tougher and more interesting. Give it a go if you haven't already.

Did you get an advanced copy or is this rather short for a $20 game??

Or did you all-night marathon it?

Either way: they got my quatlus and I'm having a blast so far.

20 minutes in.. My eyes are glazed over and I've receded into the shadowy background of this QL.. I have no idea what they are talking about lol Wtf is this game? The aesthetic and artwork is lovely. But I think the game is some kind of weird, narrative driven, otherwordly.. RPG.. visual novel.. sports game? I'm so lost. I see the comparison to Banner Saga, even though I never played it, with this overworld traveling aspect with a set of people but that's about it.

This definitely seems original at least.

I vastly misunderstood what this game was up to now. Why did I think for so long that it was a multiplayer-focused competitive game and that alone? Am I crazy? Illiterate? On the drugs? This is wild.

Love how Supergiant is willing to take some risks and stretch out, which I'm sure is scary for a small team even with their pedigree. The game itself is very intriguing so far, can't wait to get deeper in. In the Flame has been stuck in my head all day.

This game has STYYYYYYLE!

I'm about 8 hours in and am loving it. Fantasy basketball is awesome and the story and the world is pretty great. Art and music is also best in class, which you pretty much expect from SuperGiant at this point. Totally on my honorary Brothers "I'd be shocked if this isn't in my top 10 at the end of the year" list.

I wish this appealed to me, but it just doesnt. The "spiritual basketball" leaves me bored.

I was excited for the game because of my love for both Bastion and Transistor, but, hey, i applaud the art style and attempt to do something different.

I look forward to this devs next offering.

I'm an hour in and enthralled by the world, art, and the sports gameplay. So fun and engaging. I'd be stunned if this didn't take Best Styyyyyle.

The art is amazing as usual but that multiplayer actually looked pretty fun. I wouldn't mind watching high level plays of it.

I think he's channeling the villain from Baldur's Gate 2

I think the speaker sounds like the guy from Castle Crashers, Battleblock, and Pit People.

This game might be very good (I thought Supergiants other games were ok), but man is it boring to watch.

I too expected an achievement out of cleaning out cobwebs. :(

But man, I'm completely in love in this game. I was very interested throughout but once you hit the end of that first act everything that happened in the next few sequences had me grinning from ear to ear.

So, the announcer is apparently Logan Cunningham. As in, the announcer from Bastion and Transistor.

That mysterious voice sounds like A LOT like David Warner (Tron, Time Bandits, Titanic, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The 39 Steps).

Wait. David Warner is still alive?! Holy crap I thought he had passed away!

I'm not loving the visual novel aspect of the game, but I like the folks at Supergiant so I might check this out at some point. Perhaps I'll dig it more playing it than I did watching it.

If you want a great read, he just did a "Random Roles" interview with The A.V. Club where they talk about many of his past roles. He's normally very reticent, but Lin-Manuel Noriega convinced him he should agree to the interview when they were working together on the "Mary Poppins" sequel.

I paused 3:30 into this. I want this game badly. I was very late to Bastion and semi-late to Transistor, fell in love with both, and just off the concept of this game and the art and animation I'm sold. I should've just accepted that would be true and taken the PS+ pre-order discount. Oh well.

Had to play the game for awhile before fireing up the QL. To make sure im past where they played to. Super Giant one of the best developers imo and this game easily sits up there with Bastion and Transistor.

Now more keen to give this a go.

Also, glad I looked through the comments as Alex's comment "Can you believe that's Logan?" had me thinking that Hugh Jackman had started doing some voiceover work.
