@Unknown_Pleasures: I totally loved it. It's just really hard to get over learning the controls completely. Lots of moves aren't ever explained. Also playing online is completely necessary. Not that I mind, I have had a lot of friends playing this and talking tactics and strategy is surprisingly fun.

Also you don't even get to play as your zombified self in this. Which is weird considering that even in the Outbreak games, should you turn, you had full control and go express your desire for the brain munchies as much as you want. Well, you'd eventually die automatically, but it was a great feature that's totally wasted in ORC.

The game isn't great by any standards but I wish Jeff had taken a little more time learning the controls and special abilities. Not once using his incendiary ammo and seeming to not know about doing the instakill melee attack to regular zombies, they're little things that make the game enjoyable to play. I don't know man... it's not a game worth full price but definitely check it out when it's in the price range of "hey this should help me waste some time while waiting for...".

OK, maybe I worded that wrong. I mean jeff has clearly played enough to determine that it isn't very good (again, the shooting, the sloppy cover system and so on). He just hasn't gotten into the real nitty gritty as to why it's actually even worse that he knows.

Yes, tactics. Like choosing the Juggernaut shotgun, running up to someone while you're invisible as the Recon class, knocking him over and laying waste. And I know that shit like that is so OP and hard to counter because that's how I've been playing the MP. It's shameful, but again it's also really really funny to uncover new and exciting layers of crap that coats everything to do with ORC.

The game doesn't look THAT bad but I don't like the multiplayer focused campaign (I assume you can turn it off so other people don't auto join but that would probably defeat the purpose), the way that is handled in general (other random players can just skip cut scenes? No thank you.), and I don't really have much interest in the competitive multiplayer.

Looks like it has some neat ideas though- the ability for your team mates to be infected in single player while not new (The Thing) has never been expanded on to much (outside maybe what Left 4 Dead does but even that you don't get infected in the actual campaign).

All in all, looks like some interesting ideas but not anything special and didn't see anything draws me in. I'll pass- I haven't been into Reseident Evil since RE 2 so would've thought I might find this interesting but... meh.

How did a developer who has worked on Socom games manage to make weapons using the most lame, generic, stock gun sound effects imaginable? Frankly, I was waiting to hear the Doom 1 Pistol sound.

It's not atrocious or anything. Lackluster in certain areas, but I don't regret playing it, or having it in my RE collection. Looking forward to the Single player DLC.

Did anyone else think the game volume was much higher than their mic volume?

I'm not sure if it was actually tough to hear in a few spots, or if I'm simply going deaf.

This game also has SERIOUS issues on the 360 (for me, at least) finding anyone in co-op. I haven't even tried versus because, well, I want to finish the goddamn co-op and I want to finish it with people. If you want to play through this game with people, make sure your friends are gonna be renting/buying it as well, otherwise the matching system BLOWS.

I know it's not popular to like this game right now, but forgiving some of it's issues, I have really been enjoying the game. I think people are being pretty dramatic about it's problems.

Don't get me wrong: A polished gaming sensation this is not. I've had times where the game just totally takes a dump and freezes (only during competitive MP for some reason). However, I've had a good enough time with it. Then again, I love most things Resident Evil.

The trophies make it appear pretty interesting, like trying to do get through an area without alerting the Lickers. One of the best moments in RE5. In fact judging by the trophies, The Spec Ops stuff looks to be a whole lot better than the USS campaign. And knowing the current state of ORC, the more they actually try something a little different, the more chance it'll all fall apart. Can't wait x)

Yup. It takes forever and speaking for the versus, it can often leave you stuck in matchmaking unable to leave, forced to restart your console. And that wasn't an isolated incident or anything, it happens pretty frequently.

Game looks okay but between the weak sounding guns, darker than dark environments & someone trying to do all the lines as cobra commander (plus multiplayer), seems I might rent this one sometime but definitely agreed with the bombcast that it'd be interesting to have a traditional RE game with the viewpoint of Umbrella but this looks like it's more geared for MP than anything.

Yes! Nika Futterman. Strangely enough, there's actually a surprising degree of pedigree concerning the voice actors. Robin Atkin Downes is in here voicing Dee-Ay and a lot of the generic Spec Ops guys, and KillBane's voice actor portrays Nicholai Ginovaef (Evil Russian guy, AKA Russian guy, in the QL)

Oh but it is. Very bad in fact. That's not to say it can't be fun just to giggle at all of the awfulness, but this is not a well made product in any form. It's short, shallow and clunky--which isn't exactly new for an RE game, but when you've got a fast paced shooter, you're going to need a lot more finesse. Overall it plays a lot like the first Kane & Lynch I'd say.

You're talking to someone who enjoyed Vampire Rain though.....I'm sure I could find some enjoyment in this game (I don't plan on picking this up til its around $10 though)

@HyperionX3: The game really isn't that bad. In fact, I've been enjoying the co op and versus with my friend for a while now.

It still seems weird to have Jeff play this game. He's not much of a fan of any of the Resident Evil games, why would he play this one?

Because he's the ''shooter guy'', and ORC is a straight cut shooter more so than a lot of the others. Maybe they could have brought in Brad or Patrick to help alleviate a bit from a fictional perspective, but it wouldn't have mattered. Though Brad would have no doubt picked up on the RE4/RE5 item pick up sound effect straight away :P

I rented the game at redbox and literally played 20 minuets and stopped. I have a high threshold for bad games but i could not bare to play another second. The game feels sloppily put together and super duper boring.

Wait, what does Lupo do?

She's the assault class. She can withstand more bullets and has faster reloads. Her abilities can damn well make her invincible as well. She's the clear favourite that everyone clamours for (because you can't have multiple character classes in your team..) because of how OP she is, and how a lot of the other classes are useless in comparison. Even though it's meant to be a class-based shooter, there's still a lot of ''two guys having a strafing stand off'' for every class and usually if one person's Assault, they'll win.

This game could have been great. Could have been. The whole "turning into a zombie when you die" thing is something I've wanted in a game like this or L4D for a long time. Shame the game is such a mess.

I've had this game for a couple of days now (360 version) and I have to say it's pretty good. It does have a few issues - the AI can be a bit shonky and the overall visual presentation could have been better, but generally it's fairly solid squad-based fun set in the RE universe. It isn't perfect by any means, but I don't consider it a 'bad' game, either. Fans of RE should find some entertainment here - it's not 'canon' but there are quite a few familiar faces and there's some good fan service for RE fans throughout. Lots of game modes and a simple but effective upgrade path for the six playable avatars rounds out the package.

@LionheartUK:

''Good'' fan-service? Like what? Turning likeable characters like Leon and Ada into aggravating and OP boss characters? Or reducing Nemesis to some big, dumb bullet sponge? The fan-service is probably one of my biggest complaints; they actually do a disservice to a lot of specific characters and creatures from that era. Just because ''Hey, remember this guy from RE2? Well here he is!'' happens doesn't mean it's good fan-service.
