I've always tried to explain "eu" as pronouncing in in the very forward part of your mouth, but then again my Dutch is terrible.

I'm gonna miss Patrick on Quick Looks. :(

Where's he going?

The windy city!

For good? Or just for a holiday? Was this mentioned in the Bombcast, or something? My backlog is about 7 months long.

Edit: Nevermind - I found the article.

Really wish Patrick would have played a bit more before doing the Quick Look. The game has very good tool-tips which explain just about everything when you hover over them, but he would have had more time to explore those if he wasn't doing the Quick Look on his first non-tutorial game.

I'm enjoying the game, but it basically is a management game. It's all about selecting what resources to put down to develop your villages. Right up my alley, but it's definitely not for everyone.

Hey now, that's not completely fair. Vinny has been known to QL smaller indie games from time to time. Granted, 90% of them are adventure games, but still.

Aw he is leaving? I just got used to him and his sparkly eyes.
Now I kinda like him as much if not more than the others.
What else is he gonna do? You can't just unbomb yourself.

I think this QL didn't get across the depth of the upgrades in this game; every time you finish an "era" game you earn "developments", some of which "unlock" new types of resources (plants, animals, minerals) etc. Playing in freeplay lets you experiment with what you have but not unlock anything new.

In future games you gain access to those developments which then let you get more prosperity in the limited time, mainly by giving you new symbioses to try to leverage. And of course you'll end up unlocking even more each time.

Whenever you look under transmutations sometimes they are greyed out, which means that you just need to put the right aspect on something, but sometimes they have a lock symbol, which means that you need to get a development and unlock it before it will be available. After playing 1 or 2 30 min. games you'll probably have unlocked a bunch of new stuff.

The look of this game is awesome.. but the game play looks a bit shallow, boring and easy for a god game, too bad.

When Vinny asked if you can get to space I was suddenly in mind of Mega Lo Mania for some reason. A game I played a ton of on the Commodore Amiga back in the day.

He could probably do it from home, as evident from the Encyclopaedia Bombastica's and SWS'.

Played this game for a few hours after checking the QL. This game is WAY better than I expected, and it already looked great. Gotta love this new trend of smaller games with great gameplay and unique artstyles.

A tad early to say, but wouldn't be surprised if this is up there with games like FTL and BoI.

It doesn't seem to be as reactive as something like Anno 2070, for example, you need power, build a power plant but it's probably going to be bad for the climate and thus affect your production sites, which is something you can plan for or combat using other facilities to create a better balance.
I'm not entirely sure what you do in this game other than increase production by casting spells to increase your final score.

@andriv: Those games are my favorite. I'm currently busy with Velocity Ultra, though.

Did anybody else think of Marco Reus, the German Football player? xD

@cikame: They didn't really go into the awe/greed/fear/war mechanics very well, which becomes more important as you're trying to reach harder goals and is where you face a possible lose state.

Basically the game is all about pacing your growth correctly based on what you're trying to achieve, and finding the right spell combinations to either put your growth into hyperdrive when needed or find the correct balance to make your villages not revolt and kill your giants. Add in the random element of what villages want to grow and you need to be quite adaptive.

It really does look like the game merely seems deceiptively simple. Pleasant and pretty graphics, initially relaxing pacing and unusually tidy UI. I've checked out some more videos of the game, like this one, and it seems quite complex, especially for the price. I think I'll have to check this one out for myself. Even if it doesn't hold my attention for dozens of hours I expect the great style and unique twist on the genre to be worth it.

This game is really a blast for me. Very glad I caught this QL since I would have never heard of it otherwise.

I'm not sure it's for absolutely everyone, some people seem upset it's as much a puzzle game as a god game (Because they don't seem to realize all god games are puzzle games...) but I've already played 10 hours of it.

Huh, seems pretty good. I would probably buy it if my backlog wasn't so big, especially when it comes to indie games.
