Quick Look: Rock of Ages

goddamn this looks fun, weird as fuck but in a good way!

I like how when the ball rolls out there's an army there... why isn't the army killing the sculptors? Or if it's a friendly army why don't they either accompany the boulder or attack the gate themselves haha

I take the long moments of silence with occasional "fuck" as a very good sign that it's fun to play :-) Looks great.

I think this game has the greatest art style ever. 

This game looks fucking awesome, definitely going to buy this when it's released! Would have not known about it had it not been for this QL.

Fuck it. Pre-ordered. Looks bonkers and always feels nice to support the likes of Atlus.

I'm very pleased that it plays Dies Irae  at the end of all that nonsense.

I think most of the anger directed at Brad (or any of the crew) during Quick Looks occurs when they fail to grasp simple concepts, such as the grip meter in Shadow of the Colossus. In this case, it seems a little bit difficult to determine where towers should be placed and just how the momentum changes with minor impact, so the audience can sympathize with Ryan a little more.

At least that's my take on it.

And this game looks awesome. I'm really glad they did this Quick Look as I had little interest in it before today.

This is totally not what I was expected. IT IS MUCH BETTER.

@Khann: They pretty much all fail to see things that they would normally see during normal play. I think it's hilarious that people bitch at brad for being terrible at games because he actually seems to be one of the most skilled players in the office. And I really love people who bitch about the grip metter thing, because it wasn't even explained to him. Doesn't matter if he reviewed the game, it was ages ago. And yeah, he was complaining he had no idea what to do,because the game HONESTLY didn't communicate it to him. And yet, I've seen ryan do things like not even TRY to use a fucking ladder for about 10 minutes after passing it time after time after time (or maybe it was jeff?), they have all done incredibly "stupid" things because they are busy trying to explain a game that they often haven't had much (sometimes any) time with at all. Even dave has issues in quick looks, and he straight up says that he usually does way better. So tell you what, when you can do what they do without complaining about what is an honestly bad bit of design, or without saying "oh yeah, that is pretty hard to do" then you can bitch about that shit. Otherwise, you should really keep it to yourself, because at least Brad was correct that the game didn't explain what to do or how the "basic concept" of the grip meter (which without staring at it and looking for how it connected to climbing, or by being told what it does, no one in their right mind would have a fuckin' clue what it was doing. Brad had to make a wild guess about what it was, and was wrong. It's not that he didn't try, because he did and made a guess that seemed reasonable to me, even though I had made the connection because I wasn't engaged with a video game at that point.)

They do just fine, so stop complaining about it. No need for them to play a perfect game just to show it off.

Then I guess it was just me who thought RTS with controllers have never been able to replace mouse & keyboard. I feel much better now that I understand the problem is not in me, but that Ensemble, EA and Blizzard are full of lazy game designers.
