Even though you know it always alternates player and enemy turns, your brain still wants to think in Fire Emblem/XCOM tactics and think "Oh, of course I want less enemy units alive". The tutorial sequence at the start of the game should almost just straight up tell you "Try to equally weaken all the enemy units, instead of leaving 2-3 full health enemies alive".

Anyway, @patrickklepek, I'm pretty sure this video (like several others as of late) isn't in the RSS feed for the site, and I only stumbled across it by browsing around the site to see if anything had been posted. At least, it hasn't shown up on the "Site Mashup" feed.

this game just seemed slow as shit to me... couldn't get into it.

Hmm... I am a big fan of turn-based strategy games, but this quick look lowers my enthusiasm for Banner Saga. It went from a probably will buy at some point, to probably won't buy. I understand it isn't a big budget game, but it seems a little lifeless. Perhaps that is from the lack of voice over(which I completely understand for a Kickstarter game with so many characters) and the seemingly light music, I'm not sure. Beautiful-yet somewhat hollow feeling, is the vibe I get. I also don't really jump for the medival-ish fantasy setting anymore. I suppose though if you are a Game of Thrones fan, that may interest you more so.

I DO appreciate the quick look though, I was very interested to see Banner Sage being played.

I am endlessly fascinated not by this game, but by the extremely mixed reaction to the game. The Idle Thumbs guys hate the story stuff but love the strategy. Patrick loves the story stuff and thought some of the strategy stuff got in the way. It's unusual to see so much unusual feedback about a game that's so completely polarizing.

@jasoncourt: I have to tell you that having played the game it's one of my favorite experiences in the last year or so. The music, art & realization of the setting is fantastic. The turned based combat is not the greatest thing ever but it's interesting and mechanically rock solid. There is some slight repetition though playing on hard the fights are actually hard enough to keep things interesting. I recommend it but of course, I don't try to convince you if you're already bored of it - I just thought it might be a shame to skip it as a turn based fan ;).

Edit: The music is btw. especially great and they poured quite a lot of resources into getting a nice orchestral soundtrack.
