It sounded like Ryan was flicking the move controller like a madman(according to Jeff during those fights with the bogeys), nothing wrong with that, but then going on and complaining about shots flying into the sky is kind of dumb.

When I hear "sorcerer's apprentice" I usually think of Mickey Mouse before Nick Cage. I thought that was intriguing. Actually, if Sony Santa Monica had slapped a Disney theme on this, they probably would sell a lot more. The cat could be the one from the Arisocats.

Game looks good on many things except for how the main combat is simulating the movement of flailing about as bats are flying around your head.

@PenguinDust: So, the amazing thing is that the nick cage movie is actually /based/ off that fantasia short.

Also, I think this game looks kinda rad.

@Eujin: Yeah, I know but having seen the Nick Cage movie, I would have never guessed it if not for the awkward Jay Baruchel-mop sequence in the film. The movie, much like the Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion flick is best left forgotten. Wasn't Disney working on a Jungle Cruise movie at some point, too? Anyone remember?

Yeah, so pretty underwhelmed with this. Looks like another shit game with gimick controls. How did the developers of this garbage actually believe this would change the way motion games were played? Oh wait, they didn't, but they are paid to say as much.

Damn that's really harsh man. All it is, is just another motion game and from the looks of it a decent one at best. It's not like this is the worst game in the world.

You're right that it isn't the worst game in the world, I mean I am sure Taz Wanted for the Xbox is worse. But I actually hoped this would be something unique, and it isn't. The only reason I care is because the developer said it would totally change the perspective on motion control games for the core audience. I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing it, and from this standpoint it doesn't look like the developer did either.

Bland characters, boring looking world, and gimicky controls don't do it for me. If I wanted to vigorously shake my hand back and forth, I can think of better ways to expend the energy with a much better payoff.

Jeff saying kids shouldn't be allowed to do magic: They aren't. If they do, they're breaking the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery.

My Apologies: Harry Potter nerd over here. :P

Funny, when Jeff started talking about it I was like "that's why they need to take their OWLs before they can use magic like adults!"

I like the look of this. It kind of reminds me of the (awesome) Maximo games.

The next Playstation should come with a move controller as standard.

If everyone had one there would be more interesting games.

I might grab one some time and get Child Of Eden. Move seems like the best way to play that game.

Man, even with a lackluster game like this it is ridiculous to sit here and watch someone complain about things that are clearly at the fault of the player. Ryan didn't even use the shield once against that boss and I get the feeling he was just wagging the wand around like crazy just because it worked earlier with a larger crowd of enemies.

It seems like sometimes the downfall of a quicklook is they just want to get through it as fast as they can and end up giving the game a fairly poor representation.

Sorcery is fine and it doesn't require frantic hand waggling like they may want you to believe.

Try it before you judge it and tear into it just because you're afraid you might like it.

So you can cast your arcane magic through fire to set enemies on fire... already more interesting than the spell system in Diablo 3.

The only reason wands were ever legal was because we needed to keep the King of England out of our face. It's time for stricter wand control laws!

This has turned into a banner month for Steve Blum. Between Sorcery, Starhawk, Diablo 3, and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier I'd say he's doing pretty well for himself. Personally I'd say his best work hands down this month was as Beta Ray Bill in the Avengers cartoon. As for the the magic wand issue I always figured they were used for precision like some kind of magic sniper rifle. At the same time I'd agree that using your hands or ANY kind of weapon to channel magic is way more manlier. I would trade any wand for a magic sword or an actual magic sniper rifle any day. Have a great weekend guys. I'm looking forward to the E3 coverage.

Yeah! I agree with Jeff. I've always hated wands. Why make wands in your game when you can throw a fucking badass fireball from your palms. A wand is like the "katar" of magic. It's so flimsy and impractical, man.

*starts crying* It's not a meteor; it's a Move waaaand... Me and Jeff did a Quick Look with it because it made me look more like a Sony wizard, which isn't even a reference I get, because the Sony mascot wasn't a wizard, it was a polygon head!

I'm way on board with the hands vs. wand casting of magic argument. Everything about commanding spells with hand gestures says 'I'm bending reality with raw willpower' while the wand variant is the gimmicky fools way of 'I'm trying to look like I know what I'm doing but I really don't ... herp derp'.

Does the move stuff in Little Big Planet 2 work without a sub-controller? Although, I suppose this is a rare case of there just being nothing you can do with the game unless you have a sub-controller/left-side of a normal controller.

Adventure Time with Finn and... Erline?

First thing I thought of was Adventure Time when Ryan said his name was "Flinn" (or however one would spell it) and he had an animal companion but I've been watching that show lately, so yeah, it was on my mind.

I dunno, the game doesn't seem so bad and at $40 seems reasonable. I don't have a Move but if I did I could see myself trying it out. I really like seeing games trying out the middle-ground price points.

You know what would make this actually interesting? magic combo's, just like it's done in Magicka. Open up a radial menu, slows down time so you can make a selection and use the appropriate action for the magic type (punch down for earth attacks for example) that would be pretty awesome.

Unless this actually does do magic combos.

Uncharted with a twist of God of War. 1. Can't get any further in the game? Wand-spam till nothing around you moves. Path opens. 2. Walk said path. 3. See step 1. Congrats! You've just completed a shooting-gallery cycle! What an uninspired-looking game :/

I would have loved this game as a kid. I know I wouldn't know because I don't really like games that are boiled down to wave-based fight after wave-based fight. But I would've been sold on the setting, the graphics looked surprisingly good, and the gameplay actually seems fairly neat. I just don't think I'd enjoy it now.

There is a little of that, at least. I haven't finished yet, but the main one I know is casting the tornado, then you can cast fire on it to light it on fire(obviously) and/or shoot the arcane bolts into it to make them shoot all over the place. Nothing as deep as what you can do in Magicka, though.

I'm actually kinda enjoying the game. It's not the greatest game ever or anything, of course, but I am having fun with it, and that's not something I can really say about any other move game I have played.

Seeing a wand in any context other than Harry Potter looks super lame. It probably looks just as bad in Harry Potter but I refuse to let my childhood be ruined.
