i missed the steam sale. I wonder if i should pick this up

i bought this game like 6 months ago? well worth it... about 20-30 hours of content... tons of ships and stuff you can blow up... game becomes repetitive at one point but still fun and challenging... big recomend.

Aside from Brad's miserable playing, It's nice to see this game get some props after all this time.

I think I bought this during the Holiday sale last year. I guess I should play it sometime.

It is hilarious to see Brad having difficulty with this, but I can't blame him, he's a busy adult with more things to do (6 games a week, was it) than actually pay attention to a small quick look, plus talking and playing must be SUPER hard. In other news, get that big ship, let the computer handle it, and use boomerangs to fuck with other guys' shields and you're good. LOVE YOU BRAD

@Choi: Brad does not get paid to be good at S.P.A.Z., rather he gets paid to give us relevant information and editorial content on A FUCK-TON of games that are constantly coming out and that he probably can't talk about right now. Yes his playing sucked, and he knows it, but at least he tries to give us something

I'm so pissed I missed the sale now. I was so fucking close to buying it and I opted to buy an Indie Bundle instead, and the bundle was mostly disappointing.

Anyone that likes this should give Starfarer a look. It's SPAZ with more complex combat. It's currently in alpha and be purchased at a discount till beta etc.

But not doing the job thoroughly (or just not with enough attention) like this paints the game harder, more complicated and more confusing than it actually is- don't you agree? I just think it's shitty and something that can be easily fixed.

Brad is not the only one to blame, I'm talking in general- how many times have you heard Ryan say "Got it" after glossing over some tutorial text, just to get stuck minutes after on the thing the text was about.

It just makes me sad, because I know those guys rock and are better than that. Just saying... Love you all GB crew! =*

This is such a simple game with a nice level of depth to it. I was completely surprised by this one.

@Choi: You are right about the fact that it does paint the game in a negative light. If I hadn't bought it on sale and played through the part Brad was stuck on I would have ran for the hills and never picked the game up. I wasn't trying to call you out and be a dick in public here, it just pisses me off to see people come to this website that has an awesome group of dudes, an awesome community, and awesome games and just piss on everything they see.

You are in the right to ask for a little bit more detail when it comes to coverage, but then again this is a Quick Look, and as it says in the name, it should not be too in-depth. Should Brad have better prepared himself for this video? Yes. Did he have time to do so? I doubt it. I think that sometimes we as viewers forget that these guys don't just sit down and play these games all day for fun, they need to write about them, discuss them, analyze what makes the game good and what are its shortcomings. Also, complaining about these types of things won't lead to anything, because I doubt they can do much about it and they probably have other more important things to worry about.

I'm sorry if this has gotten fucking verbose and I'm sorry if I seemed like I was being harsh, the last thing I want to do is be a dick to someone from this awesome community. It's just that I am really fucking tired of some of the viewers hating on the videos out of some inflamed sense of entitlement. You seem cool though, more power to you and the BOMB!!

This game is amazing and everybody with a PC should play it. It's really easy to just pick up in short bursts too, but you won't want to.

I don't care they don't prepare- the quick look thing started as a feature where you unpack a game, pop it in and film what happens. It's the lack of attention while playing that gets me. I get it that it hard to play and talk at the same time- then when a tutorial pops up or there is a hard part of the game early on, don't talk and pay more attention... Easy really.

I have a different understanding of quick looks. Usually one guys plays a few hours beforehand and then explains it to someone else (and us).

Brad on the other hand just talks rubbish to someone who does not know better. His QLs really hurt my brain when I know the game he is showing.

But yeah, SPAZ is fantastic, I have 25+ hours on my clock. Go and buy it, even 10$ is a steal for this pearl.

In the downloadable file they misspelled Pirates as Priates. I thought that was funny.

Your understanding of Quick Looks might work for you, but you must know that they have been doing these for quite some time and the Quick Looks will be the way they want them to be. Those who do not enjoy these can just not watch the videos or just leave, they aren't exactly begging and whoring for more viewers. I love Giant Bomb the way they are, and even though some videos are swing-and-a-miss, they do usually deliver.

Where do you see any form of entitlement? Did I say a single bad word about your beloved quick looks?

Before you try to defend every bit of giantbomb you could at least read the text you are refering to. But the "xy is perfect, and everyone who criticices any part of it has to leave my playground" attitude is infantile.

This is why I'd like for them to be atleast somewhat comfortable with a game when doing a quick look. This just feels like Brad hasn't even touched the game at all before this. Also it'd be nice if Brad paid attention to what was happening on the screen.
 
But hey, still entertaining to watch.

This is a hidden indie gem, I'd describe it as an arcade rpg. If your looking for simplistic, arcade combat combined with a rpg progression system this is your game. Fun to play.

@san_salvador: I never said GB was perfect, or the QLs. You can hate all you want and complain on the comments, but guess what? It won't change anything. This is the first time I get into these discussions and now I realize how pointless it is. But back in Brazil we have an expressions: "Os incomodados que se mudem" - "If you're bothered by it, get out." Why waste your time with something that will make your brain hurt and then waste more time complaining?
