Now all we need is for someone to mash up Kerbal Space Program with this.

Jeff, the Payday 2 beta is pretty beta though. They've made some fairly significant changes during it.

I don't think that's right. Didn't they lose at least 3 even before Viking 1, plus a couple that didn't even make it to Mars?

And there were the 2 Phobos landers, that never made it either.

I'd think Brad would jump at the chance to go to Mars. The long trip would give him a chance to play his huge backlog of 3DS and Vita games.

Either that or just go into cryo sleep which sounds like the perfect choice him.

Enjoyed the quick look guys :) Thanks for the post.

[One gripe] Gotta love Brad's constant info dropping from whatever wiki-article/NatGeo show he has watched about Mars and space travel. "(Brad sound)Uhhhh, did you know...did you know, uhhh". Yep, okay, thanks Brad, got it. ;) Perhaps, for me I'm more critical just because of HOW his delivery sounds. After all facts you know about space stuff on a space related game Quick Look isn't odd. I'm probably just a jerk (no, definitely).

@jasoncourt: As a fellow layman-nay-enthusiast regarding various subjects, I always appreciated that about Brad. His enthusiasm and curiosity about space, specifically, is always welcome. I can see where you're coming from, but he really only does it when it's pertinent (or roughly so, come on it's GB...) which is kinda rare.

Nobody is expecting Brad to disseminate his research for his next thesis, and he never seems holier-than-thou or anything other than a modest guy who gets excited about the universe. You don't have to be Neil Degrasse Tyson to understand his sentiment when he said "That makes me want to grab people on the street and say: ‘Have you HEARD THIS?”

Especially when so much of peoples' conversation has to do with meaningless drivel or perpetuated hostilities and gossip, I for one am happy that some people never tire of learning.

Yup, definitely (Joke). I liked learning that stuff from Brad while watching this quick look. Like Brad many in this Giant Bomb community, as much as we may hide it with silly in-fighting, dumb-great antics and gossip, we're mostly an above average intelligence co-operative group of individuals that all seem to pursue knowledge continuously and like to talk about it, and I'd say that Brad epitomized this in this video.

Which is also why a lot of the Giant Bomb community still frequently visit the Tested website in it's new form.

Anywho, we don't all have to like the same things though eh...

I was getting worried that they would forget to crash the rover before the quicklook was done; I'm glad Jeff was on hand. Those are some cool crash physics/destructible parts.

I love me some Kerbal Space Program, and this seems like a hyper-technical version of that. Extremely tempted to nab it.

I'm quite surprised that @brad did not mention the Mars One reality show that aims to send a crew of people on a one way trip to Mars in about 10 years and basically watch them die.

It's more than that. Not bothering to do research to confirm and going off the top of my head there has been about 20 missions to mars total with a %30ish success rate mostly due to Russians sending about 10 missions to mars and failing either by missing the planet, crashing in to the planet, orbiting the planet and then breaking or successfully landing and equipment not working. Mercury Russians are pros at, Mars not so much.

Its really just making me want to start up Kerbal Space Program though. Waaaaay more depth in that! Get that Kethane mod and scan mars for resources and then mine it with a lander! Hell yeah.

Thanks for finally doing a QL for a "Take On" game. This game seems like it has potential, unlike the previous game that used its engine (Carrier Command: Gaea Mission). I wonder if they're going to go whole hog on peripherals like they do in their Arma engine games like Take On Helicopters. This game would probably be really nice with a higher resolution Oculus Rift.

I still have hope for a Take On Helicopters QL even though it's been out a while now. Then after that they HAVE to do SimCopter in some form or fashion, just to see TKOH's roots.

Now to wait until Idle Thumbs gets around to looking at this game. They certainly did Kerbal Space Program more justice than GB's QL.
