Yeah, my favorite shmups are all much maligned euroshmups, stuff like Tyrian, Raptor, Xenon, Cybernoid, Soldner-X.

All hated with a passion by j-shmup-purists, but which - while having some glaring issues - are pretty much unrivaled when it comes to atmosphere.

Seems if they just increased the speed and tbe stuff on screen they could have nailed the game part. Still cool that it exists.
