@humanity: Not sure if that's sarcasm or not, but just in case, to be clear, it's the video (or Ben playing the game with a much lower brightness setting than necessary, or suggested.)

@curufinwe: Pretty sure the other user was referring to these leaked slides: http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/neo_leak_1.jpg

Sony told developers to support both moving forward. I suppose you could say that "support" means it runs on both platforms identically, but that's probably not what they had in mind.

First I can't see shit during Abby's halloween thing, and now this. I figured y'all realized by now that what the audience sees is always darker than what you see. Hell, that lesson should have been taught when Kessler played Condemned.

@loktarogar: Both videos look fine here. Maybe it's an issue with your tv/monitor? Also, these games are supposed to be pretty dark.

I love that [Glass Him] is an upgrade option in this. Can't wait to play it.

I'm starting to wonder what kind of screen resolutions most people are using -- I could see the entirety of this quick look just fine. Just a normal 1080p, middling brightness monitor :v.

Not a huge deal overall, but I think massive spoilers for the first game in a QL of the sequel would be better avoided, as there will surely be some number of people who are inspired to play the first game as a result of the sequel drawing attention to it.

Warning: Don't watch this video looking for any insights into this game, EW 1 or RE 4. They clearly don't know what they're talking about.

But the game looks good. Already really enjoyed EW 1 on PC a while after that came out (I think after they patched in the "remove letterbox" option?) and thankfully only encountered 1 CTD and no other bugs or errors as far as I could tell.

So far I've only watched half of the QL. Haven't played either the first game or this one, but: this seems to be inspired by The Last of Us somewhat?

Why are buttonprompts showing twice on the screen? One on the object, and one at the bottom of the screen. Seems redundant to me.

Also not sure why the knife in the first person section only works at one height, even if you look down. It makes the game look very restrictive. Graphically it's also not doing very much to me. Not only the backgrounds, but also the character animations look wonky. That shrug that Sebastian did in front of the NPC seemed very 'The Sims-ish' and delayed. I get that the camera position is supposed to make it hard for you to see what's going on, but seeing Ben moving sticks left and right to be able to peek through a window says enough.

I want to like these games because i like Resident Evil quite a bit, but after playing the demo of Evil Within there were so many annoyances that it's a uphill battle. Wasn't there some mechanic where you could burn bodies but only with matches or something, even if you have a flaming torch / lantern in your hand?

If the game looks good, I sure can't tell from the Quick Look. Way too dark.

No, it's far more akin to Resident Evil 4, which is something that tends to happen when you get Shinji Mikami collaborating with you on your horror game.

There's a quality to the character and enemy movement in his survival horror games that's very distinct to him. Especially in the way enemies tend to jerk around erratically while moving towards you, occasionally duck or sidestep, or put their arms in front of their face to block shots.

I'm still super bummed about playing the first one and having my saves corrupt or something 80% through the game. I feel like I have to go back and play through the first one before playing this, but what if it happens again?
When I played L.A noir I had to play the last sewer shootout sequence like 3 times in a row because it kept crashing, I don't have great luck with these things.

This looks up my alley, I'm really in the mood for a horror game right now.

While I don't think this is really for me, I do like the 'small town with sidequests' idea. The first game didn't quite click with me as the kind of 'Survival Horror' I was looking for - as in, being thrown between so many unexpected new locations and situations (as per the core conceit of being in a madman's brain) seemed like it wouldn't allow me to get my bearings or be methodical.

Also, I still don't buy the creature designs/horror elements here, either - it still feels like a lot of things that are meant to be scary that've been thrown together without much thought, akin to the the 'horror films for a wide audience vs. horror films for the devotees' dichotomy - with the last game, and seemingly this one, being of the former. Perhaps I'm being unfair, I don't know.

But the town idea is cool. Giving the player the choice to choose sidequests differentiates this from something like 'Silent Hill', wherein the path remained largely linear but in a relatively open town space. Indeed, it seems like there's more emphasis on planning and approach this time around. I like the little details here as well (being able to use evasion tools to get out of a boss fight (!); possible-multiple headshot locations for multi-headed creatures; crafting using up more resources in the field than at a Workbench; a stamina-draining 'fear' mechanic, reflecting the player's own initial desire to get away from combat (out of their own fear and want to survive) etc.. All excellent ideas for a Survival Horror game.) Also, marking the ammunition you currently can't carry on your map - a player could plan a route involving use of a particular weapon in confrontations with roaming foes to ensure they end up at an ammo spot. It's a setting that keeps the player on their toes while rewarding clever exploration and planning ahead and allowing for scary situations in an organic, generative format. That's cool stuff, I think. It's closer to what I like, anyway.

It's also made me realise how much I'd like a video game adaptation of 'The Crazies' (Romero's or remake - both are great) in a style similar to this.

Sebastian looks so much like Keanu Reeves now.

I would happily play a hybrid of The Evil Within and John Wick, in which Sebastian (modelled on, mo-capped and voiced by Keanu Reeves) must go into STEM to save his beloved dog and assassinate monstrous creatures with a pistol and impeccable choreography.

The Evil Within 2 is a great sequel to an average game. 2014's title was good and I liked it but there was a very long list of issues.

Here you really feel that the guys at Tango really listened to reviewers and fans' feedbacks. TEW2 is way better and for me it's survival-horror of the year.

@inresurrection: Good reviews here and there and the players who bought it are really enjoying the game. That said, sells aren't that good, and that's a big big shame. This sequel is fantastic.
