@aeonfell: Okay

@efesell: He beat the game on Normal. It's also not like this is first run around with a Platinum game. I feel like he should realize the systems put in place aren't throw away at this point. Charging attacks is disregarded and I'm surprised he didn't once even peek at the accessories since he had so much excess money. There's kind of a reason he has 4 slots for items/accessories. Instead he just relied on a free one because they sent him the code to unlock it in the press release. He said he spent time trying to learn the combat even, but that seemed to be nothing.

Having given up on DS2 due to infinite poise nonsense, this seems like the last game I should get. Shame cause I was into it until that green air bender showed up and Jason said benders(lol) tank through attacks. I still think this game looks decent from what I've seen, will grab when it goes on sale.

@xeirus: I think in the context that its 15 eu. Im sure that if you really like the show there is enough fun in here to justify 15 euro. Al those bending animations look kind of cool.

This thing reeks of being rushed. And that ending. . .sheesh! I don't know if this project was taken to keep the lights on or something, but I hope Platinum is more mindful about what side work it takes on.

A lot of people in these comments need to separate their self esteem from the things that they like. If somebody joking about or mocking a thing you like causes you actual distress you should really look into some mental health care/techniques and I'm not even being sarcastic or mocking here. You will be a lot healthier with your life if you are happy with yourself and these things that you enjoy are not actually YOU.

This game definitely isn't a great Platinum game. The combat (the star of the show) is alright, but it really lacks a lot of polish other Platinum games have. It's disappointing and has me wondering if it was Nickelodeon or Activision that had reigns on development, leading to things not being taken care of in a proper way. Game being developed sub 10 months is impressive, but I also wonder if that shows that Platinum needs longer development cycles to keep games up to their bar.

I personally don't really care too much about how bare the story is, I just wanted a fun combat heavy Avatar game and that's basically what I got. Though if only it were better.

@annymouse: I laughed. Just thought you should know.

On a more serious side, can I add that what's bothersome about Dan's anti-anime jokey attitude isn't that it's not at all funny, it's that... dude, we get it. You've done the joke enough now, time to think of a new one.

Jeff made some quick joke like a decade ago, and some very few people still haven't let it go, and that's their problem. Dan's the one who won't let this go, and it's just not funny anymore. Certainly not clever in the slightest.

"Activity X is stupid, and the people who like it are weird!" is a joke that literally every high schooler makes. Dan's better than that.

Edit: Dan should embody a sense of unpredictability; "Haha, they're playing their DS on a roller coaster!? Who saw that coming!? That's awesome!" Every time anything remotely involving anime comes up, everyone should issue a collective sigh if Dan is around, because we know where he's going. Again, he's better than that.

A lot of people seem to think Dan is joking about hating anime. It's just hit honest opinion, he honestly does not care for it all! I will join him with that sentiment.

"...and I left behind the childlike tendencies of my youth."

"That's debatable."

I think Dan and Jason's dialog is a hint at the facetiousness that can be found in Dan's comments. I have listened to what Dan says and he never seems serious in any of it. Sure, it might be helpful to cut back a little, or I guess be more obvious about it, but I think people are getting defensive too easily.

Hmmm I literally have never watched this show or Avatar and I couldn't really care less about it but for $15.00 this doesn't seem all that bad.

Looks like it should be on the PS2, but to be fair the bar for Captain Planet video games is very low.

@timmit: It also seems like he doesn't know about the simultaneous dodge/attacks, that you can interrupt enemy combo attacks with blocks or dodges (since he specifically and incorrectly says you can't). He also seems to think that beating the game having never bought and equipped any gear, even the gear that has 0 trade offs besides the one he was told about. I mean seriously, that's like trying to play an RPG only equipping weapons and never bothering with armour.

He also just didn't even bother trying pro-bending mode (which is probably the best part of the game) despite the fact he still had access to it from the menu either. Just in general the video gives me the impression that he just played the game late at night and made no effort to understand any mechanics that aren't just directly taken from bayonetta. I mean, 15 times against that tank is pretty ridiculous, I reguarly got terrible ratings in every fight of bayonetta, but the only time I kept continuously dying in this game was on the runner stages.

This may not be a 5 star game, but I really think a large part of this video is Jason being a- bad at the game b- not understanding half of the game either. I hope future quick looks with him shape up better because while I totally get why someone wouldn't like this game, the video has way too many points where he makes flat statements about how the mechanics work that aren't true. This almost borders on being as shoddy as the AWFUL quick look EX brad and patrick did for Metal Gear Rising's demo. If I wanted to see people be bad at games and say things that are flat out misinformation, I'd be watching rooster teeth videos.

@sleepydoughnut: by no means does it ruin my day, more-so because the comments aren't directed towards me, but it's always disappointing to see so many people in a community find humor in people who feel disheartened by having so many derogatory comments directed towards them repeatedly. No matter if it's through text, voice, in person, it's always from one real person to another, and telling someone to stop speaking up for themselves and how they feel about comments like those is demeaning as well. Nobody from the outside of that group can tell someone inside that "they shouldn't feel hurt by those comments" and the "fact that they are is they're problem." The matter of the fact is that if someone feels that they are being belittled, they're being belittled; why don't you recognize that even though it doesn't affect you, that it does affect those others. And it's all amplified because it's being broadcast to a major audience/community, so now those people are being belittled in front of everyone. "Have some self-esteem" you all tell them, maybe, regardless of agreement or not, you all should at least show some sense of understanding? Shoot, the crew makes fun of sports all the time, but I'm not offended, because they do it with taste, and I respect that. They don't demean jocks and talk about how they're all stupid.

Anyways, that's just how I feel.

Dan has the right to say whatever he wants, and by no means am I suggesting he "needs" to clean it up, just suggesting he thinks about the way he says some stuff. After all, this is a personality driven site. If @danryckert truly feels the need to voice his feelings of thinking less of people who enjoy a certain harmless hobby, then keep on keeping on Dan, it's just who you are and it seems the community loves that kind of humor.

I don't think giant bomb should be in the business of alienating their fans. If people are actively seeking to make their opinions heard, and that they are not comfortable with the attitudes of of the personalities on this site, that should absolutely not be denigrated by everyone here. Don't be shitty to other people, even if you are masking it by being "sarcastic".

I totally agree.

It's awesome to have opinions - it's why we're here, because we want to know the staff's opinions.

But putting down the opinions of your own audience is a good way to lose that audience. And banning the audience when they speak up on their opinions? Embarrassing.

Dan said that Korra is probably "for children" because it's on Nick in a jokey manner to his friend who likes the show. That's all. That's literally all he said. And that's "alienating their fans"? Come on, this is probably the dumbest controversy I've seen in this community for as long as I've been a part of it, which is a few years now. Also. the comments that has been deleted has been deleted for a good reason, for again getting way too personal against Dan. People who just voice dissenting opinions have no had their comments deleted.

Speaking as a fan of anime and cartoons like The Last Airbender, I have to say that fans of anime probably are the most insecure fans of anything I can imagine.

Always good to see another old school DMC - action ( I'm doing by best not to call it character action ) fan appreciate the reboot instead of dismissing it by default.

Also, it was very refreshing to listen Jason as he clearly is very familiar with these types of games, and knows what he's talking about. My gripes with Korra are the exact same ( as are most peoples going by its reception ), but it's frustrating to see this combat engine go to waste in lackluster encounters and boss fights. When the game lets you go wild on dozens of goons, you can easily feel how interesting the combat may get with all the bend switches, counters and cancels.

I hope Platinum gets another shot at this.

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."
