EDIT: Hmm, Librarian looks like a a mix between DoW 1 Librarian & Psyker [the Imperial Guard fellow].

Cyrus can also one shot ANY enemy that's not a boss unit. I thought he was the best guy ingame, however I know a buddy who didn't use him at all, and he used Thaddeus, who I thought was the WORST person ingame, he went down like a sack of shit!

I know y'all don't have any reason to accept my recommendation over anyone else's, but if you want to read a W40k book read Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett.  It's about an imperial inquisitor and deals a lot with the Empire and its ways of fighting the immortal enemy that don't have so much to do with space marines.  Much better written than your average franchise fiction.  Just my two cents.

If I were to get into a game in this universe, it would probably be along the lines of Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader (the new pen-and-paper incarnations).  Would like to have a rag-tag group of mercs with different backgrounds and personalities (and forbidden loot!).

Mad props to Mike playin this on Primarch (hardest difficulty), without Cyrus and/or Avitus, mike'd up during a quicklook and playin co-op with a non-communicating partner and explaining aspects of the game. Quite the feat. Great job guys!

Yes, but Primarch is not as difficult as Primarch in the original game. I started on Primarch also and I beat the SP in 11 hours in one sitting and I got all the achievements for beating the SP in any difficulty by just beating it on the highest. I think this is the right thing to do. Great job Relic.

Give that Force Commander a teleporter!  :D

I love DOW2.  I think I have put in around 140 hours so far.  I need to play through campaign again to see how it differs when you are corrupt and last stand is always fun.  I just wish they would add some new last stand maps.

And that FC on wave 4 is a great unit to clone.  He is a beast and can last until wave 16 pretty easily.

@Xealot42:
The game has 5 endings depending on how corrupt you are. Any of your squads can be the traitor except you and Thule who is incorruptible, if you stay all pure another character that you meet will be the traitor. And you have to fight the traitor after that. I beat it twice, first all pure and then only my FC was corrupted. The SP is WAY better than the original DoW2 and I will play it for 3rd time for sure.

If you want to read Warhammer 40k novels I recommend anything by Dan Abnett. Horus Heresy is the bomb. Also, Dave and Vinny, mentioning Starcraft is considered heresy and you just made a lot of Warhammer fans angry.
Vinny I sent you a friend invite on Steam like two days ago so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Regarding the books I can definitely recommend the Horus Heresy books, i'm currently reading them for the first time and they are very enjoyable.

Wow, it looks like they really toned down Primarch difficulty for Chaos Rising. In the original, your space marines had wet tissue paper for armor.

Can't go wrong with Abnett as he is about the best proper writer doing 40k - so many are just pay-per-word hacks.

Didn't like Eisenhorn much - I would go for a Gaunt's Ghosts book - you can get the first 3 in a omnibus for about £6 - I found the perspective on the 40k universe from the POV of a common grunt much more accessible.

The White Scars would not only wear all white but almost all of them would ride huge white motorbikes or tanks.
The Emperors Children original scheme was the best though; Pinky Purple and Gold trim.

This. The Gaunt's Ghosts series are some of, if not the best 40k books.

Really good quick look guys, was never really interested in the DoW games because i'm an oldschool RTS lover, love making a base and flooding the field with about a billion units, however, this quick look changed my mind and I want to play this now.

I loved me the first Dawn of War games but i absolutely hate Dawn of War 2. The game became all about twitch fighting and who can click between each unit and fire off their abilities the fastest, and less about strategy or fun. Two hero units in the single player CO-OP is fine, but as soon as you add more then that the game becomes exponentially less fun.

It's unfortunate because i love me the 40k universe, and i love me some RTS'ing, but i hate the way relic is making their games these days.

Wow this is not at all like the Primarch difficulty in the original.
I remember in the first game mele was not viable at all on that difficulty as your dudes got ripped to shreds if you tried to mele on Primarch and were basically forced to use ranged only squads.
Not sure I dig the decrease in difficulty :(
But at the same time the fact that mele was useless on Primarch last time around was wrong also.

Skirmish in vanilla Company of Heroes with the Infantry [only] Mod is glorious.  Very pure form of RTT which typically plays out as a continous pitched battle from one side of the map to the other.  Play co-op skirmish with a friend against 2 or 3 of the hardest AI and it's brilliant.

I'm surprised we haven't seen Company of Heroes: Modern Warfare yet.  If they can pitch the gameplay half way between CoH and DoW2, I think it would be awesome.

You don't level up in Last Stand, not in the traditional sense. Your hero doesn't get more hp/mp/attack/defense when you level up. It's more like COD4. When you gain new levels, you unlock more stuff but you're guy are still limited to the equipment slots you start with. However, you don't start with any "accessory item" so in a sense you do get better.

Also, you have to level up each hero individually and you have to be 3 players to start Last Stand.

I played some Last Stand when it came out. It's pretty fun but I got tired the map pretty fast and it has only one map. Would play it more if they added more maps. (Maybe they did, haven't checked out the expansions yet or what features it has.)
