Great way to celebrate Victory Day!

Playing this with a controller seems horribly painful.

I am definitely going to go and watch The Keep it sounds like great 80's classic.

This game needs online multiplayer, no idea why they ditched it...

RTCW was amazing, it had such a great online multiplayer component that made it and all the custom maps were so good! It's still unique today, no one is doing what they did with that. The crappy free Enemy Territory overshadowed it though and now people just remember that thing.

A basic game mechanic, which Alex has likely forgotten since playing the last game, is stealth killing the commanders (guys with broadcast alarms) so that they don't call reinforcements. Combat doesn't have to be so laborious.

Just finished this yesterday, oh man is that ending really bittersweet ;_;

The combat scenarios are even better than The New Order. They're longer, the level design is more open, enemies can flank you more, and when the zombies come in later, the dynamic changes where you can pit AI vs AI. One of my favourite battles is in chapter 3:

The game is still absolutely hilarious and full of memorable character moments. From Blazko's commentary to Nazi conversations to the village drunkard.

They go even more on humanising the Nazis in here, like the one Nazi who's crying about his wife in the tavern.

For anyone playing it, pay close attention to anything about Annette, cause it pays off on the "good" ending. Here's a video where I compiled all the stuff about her, only watch if you're much further in the game.

It's incredible how Machinegames did this in 1 year of development.

If I keep asking for a Tropico 5 QL, in comment sections of other QLs, will it happen?

The Keep is a pretty cool movie and it has an awesome soundtrack done by Tangerine Dream.

I thought the new order was way better. You can lean around corners by holding the left bumper. It's possible to sneak out of areas quickly without killing everyone. The sniper and sawn off shotgun isn't that great. I thought the last encounter was abysmal. Hot tip, play the last level on Uber and you get the achievement for completing it on Uber, as I found out afterwards.

"Put a face on BJ." tee hee hee. Not sure what's up with Alex's movement in this QL...its like his controller was really messed up or something. He only made the one, quick comment about his analog fairly early on so idk. Definitely the first thing on my mind the whole time as even basic movement and turning looked oddly stiff.

The Keep is a crazy/terrible film but I really enjoyed the book that it was based on. Read that at a pretty young age.

@sinjunb There's nothing with with the gamepad controls for this game. I platinumed the game on PS4 pretty easily and that was with a gamepad. Alex just wasn't playing very well, maybe because of the setup they have in their studio.

@theogdoomguy: I know one problem with GB Prime is their setup...plus Brad ;p I thought GBeast had a much better setup (aka closer, less glare from lights etc) but I don't know...yeah, this was really painful in parts.

Just finished this last night. It's fantastic and at only $20 it's a steal.

@bill_p: Heres the short version: Its virtually identical to Tropico 4. If you want to play more Tropico, but not 4, then Tropico 5 is the game for you!

@franticrain: How does it play with the DS4? Is it a solution for someone who yearns for something like Civ Rev on their PS4?

It's definitely the kind of franchise where most people probably would be best served by skipping at least every other game.

Watching Alex's awful aiming in the first section of the QL was absolutely killing me until I noticed he was playing on a controller...

@bill_p: I haven't played with a controller, but Tropico definitely is not Civ Rev. Its a city builder. The only war aspect to it is building military bases that do combat for you. If you are looking for Civ Rev reincarnated, this isn't for you. But if you are looking for a fun little city builder with some great music, Tropico 5 may be for you. But honestly I still think 3 was the best one. Also it is dirt cheap constantly. 3 isn't on new consoles though.

What makes a zombie a Nazi zombie? Is it just the uniform? If we are to assume that zombies are essentially walking cadavers with no free will, can we still say for certain that the essence of Nazism which existed in them while alive also applies when they lose any true sense of conscious agency upon becoming a zombie? I suppose it wouldn't be too unlike questioning whether the mummified corpse of Vladimir Lenin can be said to be a revolutionary socialist, though of course his attire does nothing to help confirm one way or the other.

If I, someone who holds no affinity for the Nazi world-view, were to be so unlucky as to find myself attending a WW2 inspired fancy-dress event at the time of the inevitable zombie apocalypse while sporting Nazi attire, and fall prey to one of the fiends... would I become a Nazi zombie? It's a question we must all ask ourselves at some point, though the answer, I'm afraid, seems as elusive as a fart in a gale-force wind.

Man, this game looks a lot slower to play on a controller.

When I'm playing with M+KB It's a lot more fast paced. You can maneuver around more efficiently it seems. I guess that applies to any FPS really.

You're right, but, mostly this is just Alex. I played The New Order on PC with a controller, and, I'm not some kind of super player or anything like that, but my gameplay looks nothing like what's in this video. Alex just seems to be a very pop and stop guy. He's basically trying to play this game like you would a CoD campaign. Which is basically: park in a spot, shoot everybody, then move.

Either way basically I'd just say to anyone that the game plays really excellent, either on controller or KB+M. Very fluid stuff. Alex was nervous or something! who knows.

I don't mean to be one of those guys, but playing this with a mouse makes most of the zombie-only bits trivial. It's a pretty interesting twist when you have to worry about Nazis and zombies in the same battle, but the zombie-only bits are just "pull out assault rifle, aim for the head, tap once or twice, move on". Luckily, there are still a lot of nazis to shoot after you start shooting zombies.

I had a lot of fun with this DLC. Some of BJ's monologues toward the end are pretty great, but Alex is right, if you played The New Order for the story and didn't care much for the gameplay, this one's mostly gameplay. Exceptionally well-designed shooter gameplay, but still mostly gameplay.

Kinda odd that they'd go with that kind of nazi zombies when Wolfenstein 3-D: Spear of Destiny had a weirder and funnier variety of zombies with guns mounted on their belly that shot when they heiled.

Man, that ending was actually pretty cool. Nice going Vinny.

It took me a moment to realize who Big H was.

This seems to be more in the style of return to castle wolfenstein, that game also had a lot of weird ass paranormal zombie/skeleton/old gods of ancient times enemies. I actually kinda missed that in the new order, so I am happy they return to that style for this one.

Alex playing made this game looks really bad, why didn't he just put the difficulty down if he can't talk and play at the same time?

Please play on the appropriate difficulty or don't use a controller. Most of the quicklook is staring at walls and inventory.

Why does it feel like Alex is unaware that Zombie Nazis have been a part of Wolfenstein since Wolf3d?

I get the distinct impression that he's looking at this as just another Zombie Nazi game, without acknowledging that Wolfenstein was probably the first game to do that.
