Ranking of Fighters 0003: Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi & TMNT: Tournament Fighters

Great episode. I love both of these games... Teras Kasi only because it was my first 3D fighter.

TMNT:TF is legit one of my favorite fighting games on the SNES.

Yea this continues to be great. Can't wait for stuff like World Heroes 2, Bloody Roar, Time Killers, and especially Mace: The Dark Age!

A TMNT fighting game without Casey Jones, Bebop, or Rocksteady? I wonder if there were different licenses for the comics and the cartoon. It reminded more of World Heroes than Street Fighter. Everything has a certain floatiness to it that I associate with WH.

When I bought Masters of Teras Kasi when it came out, my friends and I told ourselves it was a good game for so long that, in the end... We kinda liked it. The power of a brand, I guess.

My buddy has his SNES up at his cottage and made us play TMNT:TF and wouldn't let us play Street Fighter.

They didn't get to the point of figuring out that the secret of Teras Kasi is getting hit until your meter is full and then destroying your opponent with your overpowered, unblock able super move. It was so broken.

It did a lot of really great things that they didn't mention, though, too. Specifically in the sound and graphics department. Presentation, too, was great. Look how much the pre-rendered characters look like their namesakes. That's a BIG deal back when pre-rendered graphics were struggling to actually even look like human beings...

This is one of those games that never seemed worthwhile enough to make my parents buy for me (especially being an only child), but DAMN did I rent this thing over and over again.

That TMNT Tournament Fighters actually looks alright, but that also might be my brain attempting to juxtapose it with Masters of Teras Kasi, which just looks stiff and sluggish and abjectly terrible. Until they start playing some real Z-tier shit, I think that's gonna remain at the bottom for a while.

I don't really find fighting games that exciting, but the dynamic between Jeff and Jason makes this series epic

Wasn't expecting the Star Wars game to even merit a ranking. What's next, Iron & Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft?

The biggest disappointment with Teras Kasi is that they didn't play the Wilhelm Scream when you ring out. I enjoyed playing it at release when I was 12, but almost entirely because of the Star Wars connection. I have always been terrible at fighters, so the fact that it's a shitty one didn't effect me much.

Thing its time for a new Star Wars fighting game, either in the typical 2D fighter style or like a Smash Bros. type thing. Between the Original and Prequel trilogies, the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons and all the new movies, comics and books coming out, there are bunch of really fun stuff they could do.

oh man i remember how like an idiot i'd always max the turbo out to 7 on street fighter games thinking it was soooo awesome.

@arbitrarywater: it really is a good game. It plays just like street fighter and feels super smooth. Remember, KONAMI developed this game..and this is during the SNES era when KONAMI pretty much only made great games.

I think the thing I enjoy the most about this series is the fact they really did give Teras Kasi a genuine, thoughtful go of it, even though they absolutely hated the game. They sat down and tried all of the characters, looked at move lists, and actually tried to engage with the game's mechanics. They didn't just put the game up and go "Haw! Look at this bad game! It's so bad! Isn't that funny!?" They were fair to it and gave the game a chance to make it's case, and it failed to make one.

Some A+ Sciencing is at work here, is what I'm saying.

Please do Bloody Roar and Bloody Roar 2. Those games were great.

This is a show about fighting games so they won't be playing Smash!

Another great episode and I appreciate that they decided to do more than one game per show, when the games they play aren't really worth dedicating the whole show to.

Also that TMNT game looks fun.
