I recognize it's a bit, but not all bits are good bits. This comes off to me as mean-spirited, which isn't what I come to Giant Bomb for.

I was disappointed in this to be honest, this sounded like such a great video feature at first... I was kind of waiting the bit to end so you could actually play civilization 6 for real but then it turned into another thing again. I don't blame you for wanting to play more quiet man though.

Figured I would watch the end later, I heard the stream went some places after you started playing and I might check it out to see what that was.

Really hope you revisit the original idea some time later, I guess the new name for the video means that won't happen.

This was maybe one of my favorite Giant Bomb streams.

@pkmnfrk: Its ok to feel that way, honestly. This could trigger some people the wrong way I think. It is all in good fun, consenting and all that despite the distress Alex is faking. But, yah. I got to 'the joke' then skipped past all of the civ 6 stuff because, this gave me a unease feeling.

I think for me it was that being tied up like that invokes my claustrophobia feeling and some of anxiety issues Re:feeling utterly helpless. So, if it was anything like that for you, I feel yah. And if not, whatever it was that made you uncomfortable, I empathize.

I think they should have just played the quiet man and left civ out of it

I'm starting to think that the decision to remove all sound from The Quiet Man was made after the game was completed. Maybe they realized it was such unbelievable trash that they had to come up with a gimmick to sell it.

I wonder if they always planned this to be... this... or if it was originally pitched as an earnest Civ stream

Aside from the bit not being that funny and going on way too long I didn’t get either thing I would have wanted out of it - Dan learning Civ or my ANSWERS.

Oh well, some things hit and some miss. Keep on truckin’ Y’all are still the best.

But, even setting that aside, I wonder what this was pitched as...

"Dan: Ok, so, I'm going to pretend to want Alex's help with Civ, and then 20 minutes in I'm going to gag him and tie him to his chair"

"Alex: Yeah, I'm down with that. How about I break free 40 minutes later, and then pretend to be mad"

Some people really need help in these comments. The bit did go on a little too long though.

The twists and turns leading to the ultimate payoff really made the stream. I want Alex to do a rushed, incomprehensible explanation of every Civ leader.

Also it made me start a new game of Civ.

I can tell this stream is... polarizing. I hear the criticisms and agree with a lot of them. But I have never laughed harder at a GB video in my life.

I was on board with the performance art, but then... oh no.

After the third or fourth stream of a shitty game, you're not dunking on the shitty game anymore. You're just choosing to play a shitty game.

If this doesn't end with Alex giving a lecture on the historical importance of each leader in Civ 6 I'll be so sad.
