This movie was weird...

Oh man I need to see Fate of the Furious so badly now.

HELL YES.

This was honestly the most ridiculous movie I've ever seen, in my entire life.

I loved it, at least.

Oh fuck! GUYS is the Fast and the Furious just the A-Team now?

Around the 10 minute mark I realized what was happening... It's perfect.

"Cuban Vin Diesel" / "Carsona" are two apt descriptions.

Such a good, dumb movie.

Brackets are basically tier lists. 4 goes lowest because, whilst 2 is worse in a lot of ways, it's just forgettable. 7's ending on its own would be higher (much higher), but I think the drone chase is just terrible. Similar for 6 - the runway scene just goes on way too long, and I'd kinda lost interest by about halfway through, which mars the rest of the movie. 5 is great, but I felt like it lent too much on being Ocean's 11 x Fast and Furious - it didn't feel like its own thing.

That said, I can point to moments I absolutely love in all of the movies. Like @alex keeps saying, even at its worst, Fast and Furious is still pretty good.

This is the only F&F movie I have seen. I feel like I learned a lot.

I think my favourite shot in this film is when Roman just says 'fuck this' and shoots a bunch of dudes. I love Roman.

I was definitely laughing and cheering in the cinema, but I was the only one.

Oh fuck, I just realised something. Cypher says something about being the crocodile in the lake early on in the film, then she is literally the crocodile in the lake at the end with the submarine. This film is so good.

That was awesome. I loved the whole baby on the plane sequence too.

More like G.I. Joe, but yeah.

ALSO, the whole bit at the end with Dom and the Sub seemed like a great callback to 1 when he drives past the train to me.

Did you guys catch that post-credits promo for Fast 9?

The Joes weren't usually on the run from the cops like the A-Team was tho, right? I never really watched G.I. Joe.

I don't know about you guys but I had been listening to that Speakerbox song a lot in the lead up to the movie ever since hearing it in the trailer. So when the jail fight starts and Statham jumps over the guard rail and that song kicks in, I pretty much lost my mind.

I saw it opening night and it was the most fun theatre experience I've ever had. Everyone was getting so into it, I was slamming my fist into my chair rest when Owen Shaw showed back up and literally shouted "YES!! YES!!" when Tego Calderón and Don Omar had their cameo.

Also if you're a F&F fan and ever happen to be at Universal Studios Hollywood you really need to take the Studio Tour for the Fast & Furious: Supercharged segment, it's choice.

They should just call the next one F9ST

Game of Thrones is a good actor.

I really enjoyed the spoilercast. I ended up really enjoying 8 (which by the way was called Fast and Furious 8 here). I think part of it is that I don`t have the same reverence for the series that the Bombers have (Han`s death is sad, but not a hugely important moment fro me) which is probably why I found it easier to accept Statham as part of the crew.

My personal ranking of the series is:

2<3<1<4<7<8<5<6

I think you forgot about the whole part about the limo has a minigun that pops out of the sunroof

I wish the whole movie had been Vin Diesel MacGyvering cars in Cuba. This "Cuban NOS" segment is the explanation of drifting all over again...

Furious 7 had a better blend of car nonsense and Mission Impossible nonsense.

@jjbsterling: That fight scene is one of the best scenes in the series.

I was in a theater with like 3 people in it, so maybe this was more of a crowd-pleaser when there was an actual crowd. I liked this podcast more than the movie!

Whatever happened to that other dude from the crew in the first film? The one who told the pizza delivery guy to find another way across the road from the beginning race. He kind of disappeared from the franchise.

My favorite scene in this, bar none, was when The Rock and Jason Statham re-enacted scenes from Hell in the Pacific set during the American war of independence for whatever reason.

EDIT: Ranking of the Furious: 5>6>3>2>8>7>1>4. The only ones I wouldn't rewatch in a heartbeat are 1 & 4, both being fairly boring and unremarkable nonsense rather than the remarkably nonsensical non-stop action of the other parts.

I liked the movie a lot, but I honestly think now that Paul Walker is gone, the series is starting to sag beneath the weight of Vin Diesel's ego. He's basically Poochie the dog now, whenever he's not on screen everyone is asking, "Where's Dominic?"

If the rumors are true and Universal is going to spin Statham and The Rock off into their own series because Vin Diesel is upset that they stole the movie (which they totally did), I'd much rather watch that movie than a Rock-less Statham-less Fast 9.

Yeah, I probably won't see the movie untill it hits disk/streaming, but I'm all over this podcast.

I've never had any interest in this series untill these wonderful commenteries started.

Something I haven't seen mentioned is the goofy-ass wardrobe change for Dom. The scene after he goes rogue he switches from a white tanktop to a black one, stays in black for the whole badguy arc, and switches back to a white one for the final scene.

How is this spoilercast longer than the damn film?! LOL I love you guys.

@59:37 Dom's tracking device on the cross necklace IS explained: After the initial meeting with Cipher and Rock's soccer dad scene, Dom is doing soldering work on the necklace when Rock calls! That's why it's so good at the end when he says to Cipher that she lost the minute she interrupted his honeymoon. And even THIS burn was to piss her off so she'd fire the missile so Dom can turn it back on her! He is playing 12th Dimensional Chess.

(I just can't rank 8 that high b/c welcoming Deckard to the family table like that just doesn't sit right with me. That CG hacked car stampede sequence felt too fake but I liked harpooning Dom's car. I WISH I could put 3 above 4, but honestly Han and Sonny Chiba are the only characters and acting I enjoy from that. Like, if I wanted to watch a coming-of-age drift movie, I would just go watch the live-action Initial D or Wangan Midnight. Also some people put 4 super low b/c it's not a crazy action flick and just boring, but I like it the most out of the more serious, grounded ones.)

That thumbnail kinda weirds me out. Too David Cage-y. But good cast duders, F8 was a fun time!
