From looking at the 8-4 map, Brad managed to avoid one of the other traps in the level.

If you drop down that pipe pit just before "fake Bowser", perhaps because you're trying to avoid an attack, you can't jump back out because it is covered by invisible coin blocks. Your only option is to go down the pipe which takes you out near the start of the level. And remember that Brad was always running out of time when he gets there so there clearly isn't going to be enough time to rerun the level.

I was honestly kind of hoping to see his reaction to it.

Zelda 2 was never good. Its like super obtuse, unnecessarily punishing and yeah like Ben says arbitrary as hell. This weird history rewriting has to end

Zelda 2 is maybe too hard for it's own good and I liked Zelda more but as a kid, so when this game came out, it was very cool. The fact that it was such a different game was a definite strength.

I miss that attitude honestly. There are so many modern franchises where I adored the first couple entries but after so many sequels that are just that game again... I just kind of don't care. There's just too much out there you could be playing. Even something you really love is a victim of diminishing returns over time, so unless your one of these weirdos who define themselves by which videogame franchise they "champion", a sea change like Zelda 2 is just, I think anyways, a great thing to have.

Yeah Brad!! On the subject of Zelda 2: I like it but I think it's not a great game nowadays. It did a lot of cool stuff that all games do now like the big overworld with random encounters or experience points to level up your character, but it was like the first steps toward all of these ideas so it stumbles a lot. I didn't play it back then because I wasn't even born until way later (sorry to anyone who feels old now) but playing it nowadays, I really like a lot of what Nintendo tried to do. I appreciate it and I enjoy it even with all the clumsiness but yeah, I totally understand why people would dislike it today.
