Quick Look: The Dark Side of the Moon

It's time to head back into the world of FMV where nothing is as it seems, except for the FMV bits... those are, thankfully, just want they seem.

Sit back and enjoy as the Giant Bomb team takes an unedited look at the latest video games.

Audio is tough.

I like the lighting and nice close up on Jenks in the beginning. They know exactly what they have there.

Doesn't clicking on that square on the lower right of the screen give you a hint or allow you to interact with something on that frame? Pretty sure that's what happened during the Friday stream. Bothering me so much seeing the prompt on 4 different screens in this quick look and Vinny hasn't clicked on one yet.

Edit: Ok, literally a minute or so after typing this he clicks one. Phew.

Between this and The Blackwell games there's a whole lot of supernatural detective blackwells doing the rounds in gaming. Apparently there's a book series around a detective Louise Blackwell.

While the FMV content is the clear star of these kind of games, you'd think that by now they had managed to have a more intuitive UI than just having buttons surrounding the screens to interact with. I guess that just might be a reflection of the budget & the ease to port it towards mobile in the future, but it's still annoying. Vinny kept trying to click the phone itself instead of the UI buttons on the bottomleft. Instead of a button, you kind of want to be able to click a bunch of things in view to uncover the clues and hear some dialog about the items on display. Great opportunity to add more worldbuilding and a better connection with your character as they give you a piece of their mind on their surroundings

That said, i am always interested in watching a mystery unfold and seeing what this crew was able to do on a smallish budget. It's a bit like Dr Who, where you're constantly wondering why it all looks so home-made and ramshackle when this is by all means supposed to be a big show. But at the same time, that kind of has it's charm.

We need playdates with this game - Alex' reaction to this game is just too damn good to waste.

If Vinny and Alex (and if we're incredibly lucky Austin) do a playthrough of this game I will buy it

I would literally never play it myself, but damnit if I don't love watching FMVinny and want to support the industry that makes it happen.

not sure why they dont do more play throughs of whole games with Vin....P4, LiS, Contradiction, UD, TLC, and the 'Goria game videos are still the most popular videos on the site from what I see in the community and they happened years ago. Please consider doing more!
