The Exquisite Corps: XCOM: Enemy Within - Part 06

Finally catching up on this series.... and like many others, I'm OUT. At least for every third one. I just can't take Dan's "act" anymore. I gave up on Mario Party due to Dan, I gave up Metal Gear Scanlan (and everyone loves Drew!) because of Dan, and haven't tried Steal my Sunshine because it looks like a Dan-driven series. I tried this series because I really like X-Com, Vinny, Abby & Alex. That may be the precise reaction he's looking for, in which case congratulations!, you chased an original subscriber & supporter away from the site's content. If you are constantly "acting" as a heel or as proudly ignorant as this "persona", whether real or not, the difference is immaterial. There are just so, so many better ways to spend my limited entertainment time than watching/listening to a boring, unfunny "troll".

Count me among the "I'm out" peeps. As soon as Dan renamed Langzone, I saw where this was going. Doubling down on the heel shtick. Oh well.

I will stick it out with the other 2/3 parts of the series since the idea (and execution there) for this is phenomenal.

So, I'm biased in that I'm firmly in the "Dan can do no (very little) wrong" camp, so take this with a grain of salt, but I thought this episode was the funniest so far. Dan panicking like the house is on fire, the body double bit, all of it got me pretty good. Like him or not, I think Dan playing the clown gives the series a good diversity of personalities. Without Dan it would be far too serious IMO.

Dan should probably not be included in things, that require some form of empathy towards others.

Makes me wonder how he survived this long.

Also; the beauty of Xcom is in your relationship with your soldiers, if you start stripping them off identifiers, like Dan is doing with just throwing a character the audience has gotten attached to and throwing himself into his place, you feel like the soldiers are just... expendable, which is against everything Xcom.
The reason you care about your soldiers in Xcom is because they aren't expendable, you invest alot of effort/time/resources into your troops and having them die is an incredible loss.

I feel like Xcom at its core has a serious tone and the way Dan is playing just isn't fun for me to watch, maybe the next time around he will do better?

The changing a preexisting character was definitely a bummer. In a weird way, it felt out of the spirit of the feature even though it didn't break any rules per se.

Don't stress over the comments guys (pretty sure you aren't anyway)...I'm loving the series exactly as it is don't change a thing.

So maybe they fix it in future episodes, but I'm playing catch-up here and just wanted to add my voice to the crowd saying "hey Dan, fuck off with replacing characters who already have a personality attached with your own."

I don't, they're the best ones. Do I really want to watch a bunch of people play X-Com in the least efficient way possible (ironman with switching commanders every episode) seriously? Not really. I do want to watch funny videos, though. I mean, everybody got the most upset at him renaming a character. I do not understand why this made so many people angry.

@radiocage: The obnoxious heel only out for himself was funny in the first episode. Then, after his character died, he took a beloved friend of the site, erased him and made his character again instead of making a new rookie. THEN he tried to erase Brad fucking Shoemaker to make a decoy Dan.
