On tonight's episode, Scooby-Doo meets Sam Fisher!

Also this VA stuff is super interesting. I Know That Voice!, a documentary about voice acting by John DiMaggio, actually goes into some of that stuff. A bunch of VAs in it mention trying to schedule video game voice acting for the end of the week because it was always so rough and would keep them from working. The "not knowing who/what they're recording for" also comes up. Someone, I forget who, mentions recording for a role and then later getting replaced by John DiMaggio. Eventually they found out it had been Marcus Fenix.

VAs (especially in video games) seem to get shit kind of a lot, and all of them seem like pretty cool people and it really bums me out.

Can someone please- PLEASE - use those audio samples in some web game or something <3

Several things I wanna comment on this week, but primarily: I liked the VA discussion and the VA recording segment even more.

So Alex is saying that in Soma they scan your dying brain and upload it to a machine, and then you wake up on some station with robots who think they're people? I've got this plot twist figured out.

As a backer of Unsung Story, I'm not angry with them for changing the game they are making. I take the approach that you guys take, look at it as a tip jar or preorder. "I want this to exist, so I'm ordering one and hoping for the best". I looked at it and recognized one japanese name and then an unknown team of Americans who were actually going to make the game and decided that I would be very happy if they managed to make anything like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. That Playdek is adding multiplayer now is not the worst thing that could happen. I'm only annoyed that they are so sparse with their updates. Most kickstarters I have backed have had frequent updates, and the best of them have had lots of streams(Lab Zero) or funny blog posts and artwork(Playtonic). Just knowing that stuff is being done helps.

Voice acting is very important, quality voice acting is very important, great voices help so much. The work put into the voice before even entering the booth is often immense, wearing the voice out without screaming happens, maintaining health to keep the voice in requires work, the work put into the boothtime easily produces over five times the lines that end up in the game. They deserve some of the demands, but..

Did you like the voices in Final Fantasy XIIThe Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles? Then the voices in GTA5? Voice acting so great even I never thought of it as voice acting because it was that natural and right in making the characters alive, unique original voices, not to mention the voice-actors were not part of the only 5-7 the north-american industry tends to use. Were these voice actors all SAG?

If they were not then by all means SAG can take that strike of theirs and go on with it because holeee shit, I want this voice acting again. With SAG voice acting even in sketchy anime is just the same old names, it's like the Hollywood cliche of actor X playing him or herself in a movie again.

-----After Burner Climax is close to GameOfTheForever and if any bomber drops by Västerås in Sweden they can come by and play, got the PS3 version. Won't take long to 100%. The game is so good that I offer that service.

-----Regarding animals and what you can do with them in openworld games, ISNT IT AMAZING HOW TPP HANDLED THEM?! BEST EVER. I'd like full on proper hunting, draining, gutting, skinning, full deal hunting in future games because the hunting options that exists are kill > skin > move along, and that's a waste. Use everything of the animal, damnit.

-----And things like monster monpiece should never be covered. The feds put you on a list if you do.

Alex nailed it, the anon developer should consider that maybe the whole damn system is broken and working conditions for everyone should be improved. I've never understood the argument of - "Well, I had to deal with this and that. You should too. Stop complaining" that happens so much in all industries. Whether it's discussing wages and proper compensation for artists or working in the games industry. If your argument is, I suffer and so should you, then you are part of the problem. You are digging your own miserable grave.

I had to check the Wii U release schedule because I swear there was something pretty big in November and the "biggest' thing is Rodea: The Sky Soldier.

I also forgot about Fatal Frame in late October.

Re: subtitles, I used to play games with subtitles always switched on, but I found that I just read the subtitles instead of watching what's happening on screen. So I then started switching subtitles off, at which point I discovered that in some games (e.g. Witcher 3) that also applies to speech in the game which is not in English. So I had to have subtitles switched on in order to understand non-English speech, but ended up not really paying proper attention to the cutscenes.

As far as the SAG - AFTRA deal goes, I don't think either side should win. I definitely prefer games with voice overs but I don't think VA are as important an aspect of gaming as they claim to be. Sure there are lot of games out today that need VA to sell the emotional impact but ask yourself would Destiny be any less Destiny without Nolan North?

This doesn't mean the publisher is in the right though. Their demand is essentially what boils down to spitting in the VA's face and I feel that the SAG - AFTRA rebuttal is more for spite than logical demands. I would rather take a strike and settle for silent games than have SAG-AFTRA succumb to the publishers demand for becoming their puppet. At the same time I do think the Union is being greedy by overselling their importance in the grandscheme but they have also pointed out that residuals are not the main goal. Which has me likely to believe its more a spiteful retaliation than anything else.

@the_spaz_rises: They were talking about it because Kojima did some work on those games (or at least Lords of Shadow 1).

They record on Thursday, usually goes up at 6AM Eastern on Friday.

I'm a Vegetarian going on nine years or so. I am a lover of animals, but my main motivation was because I realized that I hate all meats. They taste terrible. Burn them all and throw them in the trash.

With that said, I never mind killing animals in video games, because those animals are not real. I do hate killing animals in video games for crafting purposes, because I recently realized that I hate all crafting. It is all terrible. Burn all games with crafting mechanics and throw them in the trash.

Some other easy to name character artists are Nomura and Toriyama. I suppose Japan cares more about it.

It is important tho. If you change artists and designs in the way they describe it ( the 5 guy example) That would make the difference between people buying the game or not. As well as generating fan bases and keeping the art consistent.

It is also most definitely personal.....and when it isn't is where you get the boring paint by numbers stuff.

Wish the game media paid some extra attention to this . Mostly because they always make it a point to discuss and form opinions about the art design, particularly characters. Things are easier to understand once you know who did what and how. I think.
