I like the start of this where Vinny is talking about the actual real historical (mythical?) basis for the marathon and only very slightly misremembering it, and neither Alex nor Jeff believe him at all and think he's just making shit up.

Its a nocturnal podcast for me. I work nights so I get to listen to this when I get home.

Bakalar is my favorite pokeman.

This podcast is rich in Omega-3s and Vitamin X.

I almost shut off the podcast when I heard that Vinny was playing the iOS version of 999.

Kinda sounds ideal to me since every time I hear something about that game it's followed by how shitty the puzzles are.

Play whatever version you want but the puzzles were an important part of the game for me, I certainly wouldn't call them shitty, and there were a lot of character interactions during those segments that I thought added a lot. Also it is super important to play that game on a device that has two screens in order for a certain twist to really work.

But whatever, as long as you know what Ice-9 is then I guess you're good.

I like how Vinny suddenly became Kano from the Mortal Kombat movie. Pretty good impression.

You know its cool that there adding a new character to overwatch... it dosnt solve the map content problem with that game.

The iOS version of 999 is a large step down from the DS version, but if time is an issue that is an understandable choice. Hopefully Vinny is going to do the rest of the series as well. Zero Time Dilemma switches to more of a Telltale like style so would be great to see some video of!

Also, jokes about my country's economic and political self-destruction aside, the UK is still in Europe, it's not going to move into the middle of the Atlantic. Though nothing would surprise me at this point...

For the record, Kirby's Adventure is great. That's where the ability absorption originated and it has a neat overworld system with tons of bonus stuff to unlock. I'd say it's one of the best NES games.

So glad Vinny is getting into Zero Escape, it's one of my absolute favorite series. Hopefully he'll get to Zero Time Dilemma by the end of the year so it can be involved in GOTY discussions. Maybe even a spoilercast like Patrick used to do for them.

I'm a little glad that they actually came back around to that in the sequels. After finishing 999, it sort of annoyed me how they spent all this time in explaining it and in the end it had nothing to do with anything. I enjoyed it overall but that sort of stuff started to rub me the wrong way after I looked back on everything.

I'm English and I would pronounce Doncaster as 'Don Carster', not 'Doncstr'.

The puzzles in 999 aren't terrible, but the structure of the game necessitates playing them over and over which gets super irritating. That being said the two-screen thing is very relevant to a huge plot point and twist at the end of the game, so I wonder if the iOS version loses the impact of that one reveal.

The structure of both VLR and ZTD makes the puzzles far more bearable since you only need to play them once.

I was on my new treadmill when they went into that spiel about long distance running, culminating with the Homicidal Australian, or whatever he was.

I like the new mini NES thing, and I collect games (maybe too much). I'll probably get it.

I like the idea of being able to play an NES on a modern TV easily. I know you can emulate the software or just buy an actual NES (although I don't because people sell old Nintendo games and hardware for way too much) but I just like the idea of this thing. In a similar vein to the Atari ones they always release. The problem with the Atari 2600 one is it's always horribly emulated and nothing like the actual games on a 2600. Hopefully this mini NES has good emulation.

It's a nostalgia thing, sure, but there's nothing wrong with that if they do it right.

Haven't fully listened yet but please play the DS VERSION of 999. The iOS version is definite going to take away from the game, and I've played through both. Please. Pls.
