why does dan suddenly have a problem with licensed properties when it comes to telltale games

"they're not games" also doesn't explain the issue

@caleb1915 : Because he feels that the licensed properties are used to hide how outdated and similar their games are, coasting on the popularity of the licence to create the illusion that it's a new game.

While the game might be new when it comes to story / setting / characters (the licenced part), the game mechanics and the engine are the same that you would find in a Telltale game from 2012.

I have to write this, I don't care if no one sees it. Terminal velocity just means the object (pee, whatever) stops gaining velocity as it falls due to air resistance at a certain point. At some point the maximum speed you reach while falling under gravity is referred to as terminal velocity, the deadliness of a falling object is not related to this term.

I think most of TellTale's Sam & Max games were brilliant, especially the first seasons. And despite knowing very little about Homestar Runner I ended up loving the Strong Bad games.

Sadly they threw away those Adventure game mechanics in favor of the "choose your own adventure" style they are known for today. I know a lot of people love The Walking Dead and Fables games, but I've always thought their older stuff felt more engaging, funnily enough.

Absolutely. Of their pre-Walking Dead games, I played most of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playground, all of Strong Bad, and the first episode of Back to the Future. All used the point & click adventure mechanics, with a lot of puzzles, none of the QTE combat we've been seeing from them since. So they can't all be lumped into one. I liked those earlier games more too, but thought the first season of The Walking Dead was very effective.

As a life time resident of New Jersey, I can say Taylor Ham is not the same as regular Ham. Taylor Ham is more along the lines of Bologna but with more or a baconish flavor. But better.

And north Jersey says it the correct way as Taylor Ham. South Jersey says it the incorrect way, as pork roll.

I hope this helps.

@quigibo5: as a south jersey resident, why is pork roll the incorrect way of saying it? Either way, I'm still shocked that this is only a NJ-area thing; it's like how I always assumed ShopRite was the WallMart equivalent of grocery stores, only to find out it's basically just around here.

I'm guessing that the reason you guys don't know about Pork Roll is because its more of a Central Jersey/Philly thing. I was born in Trenton and grew up in New Hope PA and I can say without a doubt that pretty much everyone in those places has tried a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich at some point.

The band Ween (also from New Hope) even has a song named after the sandwich:

Pork roll is love. Pork roll is life.

I woke up in the weirdest escape room puzzle. I was floating in this liquid, there were sounds but I wasn't sure what they were, I'm not sure my senses were hooked up quite right yet. I said to no one in particular, "I'm going to make it out of here within 9 months, fuckers"

Sure enough I made it

Wow.. Dan Ryckert, a man seemingly married to the Metal Gear Solid series, asks why Telltale Games doesn't just create graphic novels instead of games..

Loved that Vinny riffed the exact voice that the animated mannequins yell at each other in on the actual ride.

The problem with Dan is that he worries to much about mechanics and not enough about story. Story makes games for me. This is why I love Telltale. Mario is a bad game as the story is meaningless. But then I hate platforming games in general so...and how he can like abzu when the game play there is completely really nonexistent as you swim around simply for the sake of swimming around and not like telltale I don't get. If you want to look at fish just go to an aquarium or actually swimming with fish.

The bends is real and he is right - and I am a chemist.

Wow - Dan's daycare and his college explains so much about what is wrong with the central area of the US. Wow.

What was the 999 thing they talked about for a minute? Not familiar with that game.

I've heard Dan say "the part of it that is game" many times now to refer to gameplay, and it always seems incredibly rude, in my opinion. Dialogue, characters, story, music, graphics, etc. are all parts of what make a game a game. To say otherwise is super disrespectful to all the talented, hardworking, people that contribute to designing and producing video games. He values gameplay over all else, and that's fine, but he should say gameplay/controls. Again, in my opinion.
