I haven't put any weight behind game reviews in years. If I do have any questions or reservations about a game I will just watch a few streams or YT videos. I sub to your site mainly for your featured video content but I couldn't really care less about your reviews.

The discussion on the topic was still very interesting though.

French toast is WAY better than waffles or pancakes. Usually put some ice cream on that too, mmm.

I find the idea that Bethesda's new review policy is anti-consumer to be really overwrought. It only really affects first-day-buyers, and that has always been a risky decision to make anyway. If reviews are important to consumers, surely they would change their behaviour, no longer buy a game the instant it releases (or, god forbid, preorder it!), and wait until reviews appear. If they don't change their behaviour, that might just validate Bethesda's point that day one reviews aren't that relevant to consumers to begin with, which then means that gaming websites need to change their approach.

I wasn't planning to get the Skyrim remaster - don't have time to play a Bethesda game right now, and I've already bought it twice - but hearing the Fus Ro Dah music, I really could go for some Skyrim right now...

Has the premium feed on Pocket Casts been updated recently? I just realized that it had been since episode 72 that the app hasn't updated.

I went to the Studio Ghibli museum a couple years ago; the book I bought came with a piece of artwork of the museum, and at the top where the name is they use the character for Ji, not Gi. End of debate.

Where is that video of the guy who got an early copy of Skyrim Special Edition? They mentioned it was linked in a Kotaku article, but I didn't see any Youtube videos in any of the articles that come up when I search Kotaku for "Bethesda." I'm curious to see whether his comment section turned on him for being a shill.

Posting here even though I watch the premium to make sure it gets seen. Would have posted earlier but had to rebuild my PC. Anyway I certainly don't like reviews that try to be some sort of political or social commentary. You are a game review tell me if the game is any good or not and why. I understand it is somewhat subjective but that is why I have some reviewers that I follow and others I don't. It is also interesting to know which games are the best in a genre that I may not normally play. I don't play shooters but I might pick up the new doom because it is such a good game.

I love Austin as it was nice to have a true intellectual on the staff and he brought interesting games I liked that I wouldn't otherwise find. His reviews though where he always criticized society and not the game I did not like at all. Tried to go to vice and ran screaming the other way because that is all the site was. No thanks. That can not be the future of reviews.

Fascinating discussion on the state of game reviews, I love when the crew does a deep dive like this.
