I really like that framed vector art too, Brad. It's really cool.

I like how oblivious (intentional or not) the dev was to Brad's Pokemon joke. >_<

So far I think Lara Croft GO is the most visually impressive one of these. That game had really well made backgrounds with some slick animation. This Deux Ex game seems a little bland in terms of the levels.

I'm actually kind of bummed it has the Deus Ex 3 visual style. How cool would it be if it had the Deus Ex 1 style? Maybe a few levels at least.

I LOVED Hitman Go. I liked Tomb Raider Go a fair bit. I...don't think I'm interested in these games anymore. This seems a little bland and we have reached the point where its just more and more layers of complexity put on top of what I loved, which was a super simple, super clever quick puzzle game.

Is it weird that I'm more excited about this than Mankind Divided? Make no mistake, I'm super stoked for a new console/PC Deus Ex, but slap GO onto the series and you've got my attention.

This looks really cool. I'm glad they're expanding the narrative scope a bit because that was something the previous games could've used.

Do they drop a release date in this video? Has that been announced?

So this is an EX for Deus EX, a game by Square EniX, co-hosted by E. GirouX?

It's really weird that they dropped the whole board game / diorama aesthetic. That was so striking about Hitman Go.

Well they seem to keep choosing the right properties to take a swing at this format.

Farcry Go would be a stretch. :/ Perhaps only a matter of time until Rayman Go.

Maybe Beyond Go-and-Evil? I think I need to go cry in a corner, brb. :'(

Certainly. I would bet several dollars that there is a Hitman Go tabletop game mockup on a shelf somewhere at Ubi. But at some point you can't tie merch into everything while simultaneously evolving the format, so why not just make a video gamey video game that looks distinctive and true-to-brand every time...

Yes. I clicked this without reading the title very carefully and was sad to see a mobile game.

Oh well. Looks like the MD video is coming Monday.

I'd love to see this get a PS4/Vita release like Hitman Go. Not really interested in it until then.

Not sure if this gets cleared up or if I am mistaken.. But I feel like brad was confused about whether there was more than one way to solve a level. the dev of the game tried to correct him and it didn't seem to get across. I believe he said that there is only one way to solve a level, part of the puzzle aspect is to figure out that one way.. so its not like deux ex in the sense that you can play how you want to.

Hate to break it to ya, but the Go games aren't from Ubisoft; they're from Square-Enix and thus use Square-Enix properties.

@yummytreesap:And even then the Square-Enix properties so far are all Eidos based, I wonder if we'll even see something from the Japanese side. So far these games have made sense but I don't even know what property they could take on next.

Possible list of follow ups:

  • Just Cause Go
  • Life is Strange Go
  • Sleeping Dogs Go
  • Thief Go
  • Kane & Lynch Go
  • Murdered: Soul Suspect Go

Soul Reaver/Legacy of Kain Go seems like an obvious choice that could be pretty great.

This looks great. I was always a little skeptical of this series losing the board game look that Hitman Go had, but they seem to go far enough with gameplay to make this still be really cool.

@dragon_puncher: i doubt that a property that hasn't seen a release in the last 13 years is an obvious follow up.

Yeah he seemed to make that pretty clear. It's a bit of a shame; I'd love to have the ability to give Jensen your choice of abilities and have him handle challenges via stealth or action or whatever, but at that point it seems like you might as well just play a "real" Deus Ex game. Totally understandable how they designed the game for one solution per puzzle. Looking forward to playing it!

@rorie: I feel like it would be really hard to design challenging tight puzzles around a multiple-approach method though. I feel like these Go games have been their own thing, just using the themes of other games with each installment. I really liked the first two and this also looks great.

Got an ad for the new version of the Mouse Trap board game before this video. Looks way worse than the original, rather than a Rube Goldberg contraption it's some crappy thing with jungle creatures - that makes no sense.

@humatt: I'm pretty sure Freedom Fighters is actually owned by EA, and just developed by IO, unless the rights got moved around.

Either way, I think Freedom Fighters is a bit overrated in people's memory today due to nostalgia YEAH I SAID IT HOT TAKES WHAT'S GOOD.

Ooooooh! With dimension or realm switching or whatever that mechanic was... Yeah! That could be interesting.
