Could you maybe explain why? I've never understood why people don't like Alex and it's fascinating to me.

natural selection 1 was pretty good

Now this looks rad, could be the first of these games I can get into since Minecraft. Bugs me a little that the character never puts out the fire in the life pod, you'd probably die from smoke poisoning in there.

Also, like Alex I don't get sick on boats, but pretty much the moment I look away from the road while in a car I start feeling ill.

@kaizer: I've seen people call him dull, boring, autistic, obnoxious and smug. For some people it probably comes from disagreeing with his opinions and then looking for reasons to hate him.

I dunno, I like all the staff equally.

Yeahh... I mean, I like Alex and all. A lot of times though his mannerisms and dialogue get especially irritating. Like right at the start of this video is a good example. That whole "Under the Sea" bit. It's just obnoxious.

His Big Rigs video review, though. I mean. It's pretty fantastic.

So he's still cool in my book.

I do wish Vinny had more people to work with though when it comes to videos like these.

I really miss him and Jeff doing quicklooks together.

The Vinny & Alex quicklooks are great IMO, they seem to have personalities that complement each other well.

Really Alex, that's the intro you're going with? Ok.

I cannot fathom the appeal of this style of game. The general consensus seems to be that when GTA made you eat and exercise and shit, it was a misstep but everyone seems to be lapping up these Minecraft 'survival mode' games. Don't you people get enough of the tedious busywork of gathering, managing, and consuming resources in day-to-day life?

For me it used to be his mannerisms and the fact that he backed out of his opinions way too readily during his morning videos with Patrick, automatically taking the back seat, I guess it's because I think I would get on with Alex really well on a personal level and I couldn't bear to see him that way. Now, his chemistry with Vinny is something completely different. He's like a strange and idiosyncratic man with good taste (a blessing and a curse) forced into a position of a straight man just because his partner is just brilliantly insane. Like Ken Freedman on Seven Second Delay.

I think it works great at the moment and finaly I see Alex as an indispensable part of GB.

I'm with you in general, but the utter beauty of this game made me check the price on steam. Then I remembered I would probably play it for an hour and never come back. If I ever get the Rift though, I'm going to become one with this game.

They didn't seem to notice that when they exited the dying ship in the seamoth, they clipped through the world and were beneath the world when it crashed.

I agree. I like them more than the Jeff/Dan quicklooks. As for the game, it looks really good, especially for an early access game. Maybe when it gets more content I'll check it out, but {insert backlog comment here} and don't have that much time for another open world survival game.

I think the "underwater spaceship madness" movie alex was talking about was Pandorum.

This was genuinely terrifying to watch as someone who is not comfortable with the ocean deep. Super cool idea.

Gbeast putting out some great quicklooks/unfinished. I love the ocean and The Abyss and Sphere, interested to see this game when it's more fleshed out. I'd be on board for exploring the deep dark sea if they add some creepy things lurking down there.

Another good Caravella Look.

this is legit one of my favorite QLs/Unfinisheds ever.

The island I assume Alex is referring to might be Georges Island, in Boston Harbor. It's a commonplace suited for public outings and parties, plus you can camp inside the gun emplacements and bunkers.

That submarine is cool as hell. I hadn't heard about this game and wasn't expecting anything from it, but seeing Vinny build the huge sub and docking a smaller ship inside it was just great.

Also, please make sure Vinny and Alex cover games like this in the future, I love how they actually gave it a chance and showed the stuff you can do in the game rather than stabbing at crabs for 30 minutes.

If they came across something at the end i'd have jumped out of my chair. Was getting stressed just at the thought of being that deep! Great QL and the game looks gorgeous. Will wait to see how it develops though.

If they make this game more like a mysterious sea exploration game and less like an open-ended crafting simulator, I'll be all in. The fact that they went so in-depth (no pun intended) on that submarine makes me very hopeful.

It was worth watching just for the launching of Ryan Seaquest.

Wow this looks really cool, especially the sub that you can walk around in, park another vehicle in and actually have it fill up with water with breaches, that looks awesome.
