@vinny Dracula's first form is super hard until you figure out one thing: jump after his cloak opens but not before the fireballs appear. Stand one to two blocks away from him while you do this and you'll clear the fireballs easily, allowing a free whip hit. Repeat 20 times and boom, Dracula's second form.

Second form is tough, though. I'd recommend grabbing the holy water for this as you can stunlock his second form allowing you to pop off jumping whip hits rather easily. Hope any of this helps.

That Grim Reaper part... I bet it'd be way easier if you could call Zobek.

I'm surprised Vinny didn't see that second form coming, Dracula sort of does that in every Castlevania game.

As someone who never played any of the original Castlevanias (despite owning a NES and SNES), I'm AMAZED by how much Symphony of the Night was referencing this original game.

Written by drunken/smoking comics god Warren Ellis (I'm a fan...is it clear?) basically with the mission statement: "What if G.I. Joe was STILL absurd but had psychological realism?" The results are...pretty damned impressive.

There's actually a dumb fuck alive in this world that emailed the Giant Bomb crew thinking they were somehow the makers of Rock Band? I really hope he is trolling, because if not he is not worthy enough to breathe.

Just play the first 5 minutes of Symphony of the Night and call it good.

Watching a YouTube ending to this game kinda makes me think Vinny could have gotten this with just a bit more time. Stun locking that second form with the holy water looks super easy.

I beat this game once, long ago, and I swore to myself that I'd never go back. Watching Vinny play has only fortified that.

I still find it crazy that Vinny is able to do this with a 360 controller. That thing is much less responsive than a NES or SNES pad.

Rorie's character is really lazily-written, I wish they'd do a better job making him sympathetic to the audience.

I've never played this game (actually only played one Castlevania, Circle of the Moon, but only played a couple of hours of it because my GBA fucked up) and had no idea about anything about this. Didn't even know how the hearts worked.

My point being, I had the same reaction as Vinny when that second form showed up. At first I was lauging, and laughing at Jeff and Rorie admitting they knew all along. But after that I felt deflated as well. I thought that was the end, it was real disappointing seeing Vinny have to go through all of that again.

Maybe, but from where he was starting, he wouldn't have nearly enough hearts to properly stun lock Drac2 with the water.

anyone else reminded of StarTropics by the sound of the whip or certain item drops, or even the transition music between rooms? having never played any Castlevania games, listening to this takes me back to whipping slugs with a yoyo . . . :)

That was great! Having never played original Castlevania I was just as surprised as Vinny was at the end. I hope we get to see him beat this though and then move on to the next game, play them all Vinny! Even the terrible N64 ones!

love that little VInny jump scare at the start of the Medusa fight.

I bought this on the 3DS eShop a while back and enjoyed it quite a bit, although having never played it before my skills were several notches below Vinny's and I never got past the first area.

EDIT: Also I'd like to point out that Vinny is a great lead on videos because he's such a good sport. When the team plays multiplayer games and he gets killed he's always saying stuff like "Nice shot" or "Good job" and when he dies in games like this, he rarely ever blames the game itself.
