Vinny ..... Draculas hate him.

This was my favorite Castlevania, I'm gonna miss these thumbnails cause the artstyle in this game really pops, y'know?

I missed this starting so I was about 20 minutes behind the stream the whole show. A bit unfortunate because some tips like how you can totally tell the timing on the fire pillars based on Dracula's animations, or that jumping and spamming syphas fire spell totally does chew through the second form really quickly, might have helped.

Either way, I love me some Vinnyvania. I get that Vinny doesn't want to be stuck, committed to playing this series for the rest of his life (and other members might not be as much into watching this single game series that I am), but I still hope they can keep this feature going for a few more games.

For now, take a break Vinny!

Nothing's probably gonna be good for hours on end, but that song is OP.

Two things I really like about this video are:

1 - It's great to just keep on in the background while I do other stuff.

2 - It's fascinating to see how they figure out the game.

Still the lack of that checkpoint is fucking bull shit.

The second form's music brings me right back to the good ol' days of the twin Dragon Zombies.

I should mention that even though I consider this my favorite CV game I've only legit finished it like, twice. It gets so damn hard towards the end, something I don't think works in its favor.

I should start playing Super Castlevania IV. I own it on virtual console and have never actually finished it. Gotta be ready to dole out some sick strats!

Hooray for Vampire Killing! Man, it's a real prick at the end and all and I'm pretty sure I've never beat it all the way through on account of how rough those final levels get but even with Super's fantastic playability improvements and all-way whips I still think this is my favorite classic pure side-scroller 'vania. Should probably try out the apparently less-bullshit Japanese version some day just to see how that feels, and hear the fancy extra-soundchip music of course.

I still think it's kinda a shame Vinny ended up going with Sypha though, sure she's got the crazy-powerful magic but I kinda find her the most boring character. My man Grant is a big part of why I love 3. Motherfucker can climb ANYWHERE! Having that kind of freedom was so crazy at the time! That awful water & bird section from that previous hell level? Might be wrong but pretty sure Grant can just hop up right at the start, clamber through the gap, and be straight up the stairs. Grant is true Castlevania hero.

Yessss. VinnyVania is one of my favourite Giant Bomb series ever. It's too bad Alex is missing this time around, but there's nothing wrong with some Vinny on Austin action..........

Finally we can move on to Castlevania IV, but yeah, I month-long or so pause would definitely nice.

Anyway great job, Vinny.

The most frustrating part of this feature was Vinny occasionally opting to use Trevor instead of Sypha (despite her clearly being superior for certain segments) on the basis that Trevor takes less damage per hit. Late in the game, that doesn't matter, because both characters can still take four hits before dying.

In either case, though, well-done on finishing the game, Vinny. I'm glad you stuck with it.

21:20 is when he first discovers there is no checkpoint at Dracula.

1:18:45 is when he kills the second form for the first time and discovers the third form. When he paused it after that, I honestly thought he was going to quit the game.

I'm playing through Castlevania IV right now. It's actually slightly longer than I remembered, but definitely not as hard as III. I made it to stage 8 or 9 before getting my first continue screen. There are definitely a few tricky parts, but Vinny shouldn't have as much trouble with the game as he did with Dracula's Curse.

Castlevania's music usually never disappoints, but man this tune is jarring. I really hope vinny does symphony of the night at some point

You know what this makes me realize. If they were to ever do an American version of Game Center CX, I'd want it to be with Vinny. My original choice was Robin Williams, but since he's no longer an option, I think Vinny would do a great job.

Man, Vinny is going to finish Super Castlevania IV in like one sitting after getting through this nightmare.

@steevl: Dracula's Curse is probably the hardest of the old school Castlevania games. I think it has to do with the fact that you have a buddy system, and the designers didn't really account for all the ways each buddy's special powers could break the level design or certain enemies, which leads to parts of the game being far more frustrating than others due to a sub optimal route. You know, because certain levels were designed with this or that character in mind. The clock tower before Dracula is probably the most egregious example, as using Sypha, Trevor, or Grant could make it a real challenge thanks to the bat placements, but with Alucard you just... well, fly over the level like Super Mario World.

And that lack of a checkpoint at Dracula is utter fucking bullshit. I'm very glad that hasn't stuck around throughout the rest of the series.
