Mike Mahardy on the beastcoast stuff was a blessing.

I haven't played warframe in years but I remember it just feeling like grindy to get blue prints and I wasn't even sure why I was grinding this was like 2012 and 2013 during beta phases and early gameplay.

I'm sure the game has changed but how much to be worth it? something about warframe felt super off to me and never recovered to want to try it again after grinding rare ass blueprints at random same old locations.

What's the appeal now 8 years later?

A lot of the first 10-20 hours is much getting mods and warframes, building a decent kit out. The Warframe blueprint. Once you make decent warframe build and start understand how it mod and damage system acquiring new frames and progressing through the star chart becomes much more streamlined. Also, Mike was very careful not to try to bring up spoilers for Warframe's story and lore which lead to more interesting content for long term players. What they showed on stream today is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what's change in warframe. They show less of what's change and more what was in close beta only expanded and refined. There's a lot more of the content left to be shown that they didn't get to.

As far as Gamespot goes I still like Lucy James, Tamoor, and Peter Brown. Peter is the one gaming journalist I can think of that likes old games even more than Jeff.

@steveurkel: I play Warframe a lot right now, and I can think of 2 main reasons I play.

The first is that the movement and game feel is really refined and feels great. Once you get a feel for how the “parkour” system works and you’ve learned the maps it can be a very rewarding, skill based speed run style game.

The second is how much they change things. Updates aren’t always as frequent as I would like, but they take big swings when they do make changes. It feels very creative, like a game in early access.

It’s not for everyone, and you have to have a tolerance for grind, but it find it really rewarding. I would say, however, that if you aren’t having fun within the first few hours, it’s probably not for you.

Gonna miss Wittle Babby Mahawdy. Hopefully wherever he goes to next can appreciate his baby voice talents.

Every time I see anything about Warframe, it is somehow always more astonishingly weird than the last thing I saw.

In case someone's wondering what the game they talked about was (probably got answered in the chat, but anyway), it was Echo. Sadly the game flopped and the devs went out of business.

I haven't touched Warframe since trying it out of pure curiosity on PS4 in 2013/2014. Maybe I'll get to it again one day.

I don’t believe Dan Trachtenberg’s intro is in the game yet. It debuted at Tennocon last year and is slated to go into the game sometime... soon?

I wish I had a better answer for when. Fun fact: I storyboarded it.

Mike was always really fun to have on the shows and podcast so it’s a real shame he’s not gonna be around for that anymore but best of luck to wherever it’s going..unless it really IS wrestling..

I sunk about 450 hours in to Warframe and ultimately got fed up with their content updates all being very underwhelming. I desperately want them to do more single player story stuff (and what is there is incredible its so damn good) and they gradually got less and less focused on that and rather instead added systems n gimmicks n big open boring areas n just stuff I wasn't interested in.

I kinda wish they'd just do a total massive content dump with cutscenes n story n set pieces and just unique encounters and whatnot. The Warframe grind gets very very tiring.

Warframe! Finally a person who knows how great the game is. With that said, I'm now at master rank 22 and there is really nothing left but to upgrade weapons and reach more levels. The Nemesis system they put in called Leech provides a decent detraction, especially since you can get their overpowered weapons and upgrade pass level 30 once you killed them. But other games like COD:MW, Destiny 2, have gotten more of my attention, and soon will Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and The Division 2.

Sad that Mike's leaving, he's been a great addition to the Beastcast. Wishing him all the success for the future!

Is Mike from New Zealand? Surprised to hear him talk about Martinborough NZ, I was just there last weekend enjoying a wine.

I literally have not been to Gamespot in a decade or so,only time I see these people on Giant Bomb so until this stream I had no idea he was leaving. I only watch GB under CBS anything.

That said I love Warframe. I never made it past a certain spot as the grind became too much and when I did want to do it they added so much stuff I kept replaying other stuff or the new stuff only. I think DE would be a pretty good developer for a TP Metroid game.They could easily build a look and atmosphere fitting and also unique.

@jstaunton Been using twitter for 12 years. I follow GB's main twitter and maybe Jeff. That's it. I also folow hundreds of accounts so I don't get everything. I don't do podcasts tho. I used to in the early 2000s and up to about 2010 but slowly got away from them as more became video. Now I just don't do them at all.

I've finally realised what bugs me about this game; the player model is SO LARGE on screen and it's almost covering up the reticle most of the time.

OH for the love god, Mike was not a part of GB - he SHOULD have been, but he was shitty GS. Him now leaving entirely is bad. He should stop wanting to work in wrestling and fully join GB - FOREVER!!!!!

Because I want reality to be how I want it to be - because if we live in a simulation, I want to install mods.

I only really ever saw Matt on Burgle My Bananas, but he was a great addition for that.

Every time I see Warframe I'm all "THIS GAME IS RAD! I SHOULD PLAY IT!" and then I do, and it's all "I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing."

Aw, man, I was thinking this might end up being a yearly thing with Mike but almost immediately the hope of that was squashed by the announcement that he was leaving GS. Still, this was a really fun video to watch.

@elliotcm: they recently increased the FOV, so that might help.
